It doesn't matter where you are around here, you see it wherever you go. What is it?

T R A S H in the Valley of the Scum, yes I said Scum

Walking through the neighborhood, driving home from work...anywhere...everywhere! The least you'll see: papers, soda cans, broken glass, anything that points the finger at laziness of idiots. Most of the time it's worse. You'll be driving and it won't be long before you'll have some smelly throw a cigarette butt out the window, sometimes they even bounce off YOUR car! If you are too lazy to clean up your own ash mess, don't smoke. It makes you stink anyway! The world is NOT your ash tray! Other times you'll be lucky enough to see a couch, recliner, or TV. Right after Christmas you'll even Christmas Trees. Do you like living in a Valley-wide loose trash landfill? I sure as Hell don't. It is not hard to dispose of trash the correct way. If you litter, you are scum.

Most recent incident:

I was on a nightly walk this week and as I was crossing the street a vehicle stopped, the passenger door opens and some P.O.S. drops a bag of trash on the corner, closes the door and then drives off. I hope they get what they deserve.

It's just another example of what is happening with society.

That doesn't mean it's alright. There's no justification for laziness and lack of repect. I guess I should have lived in a more respectable time. I don't belong in this century.

I didn't mean it's alright. I agree with you. But it is a sign of our society today. Lazy and disrespectful. That's one of the reasons there are so many out of control students.

Yeah, a sign of a society destroying itself. Just about everyone is out of control in this state. The only good thing about living here is that I can open carry my handgun almost everywhere I go. Never know when I might need it.

I don't know which part of the Valley you live in, but where I am, its quite clean. The only true messes I notice are the corners where the day laborers hang out until they move on.
If you are that unhappy, no matter what, you really shouldn't be here. Time is valuable and you are wasting yours watching the trash on the side of the road.
Love life and live to love. Best wishes!

If I had the means to leave I would. That simple. Guess you didn't read my bio. I still have some community pride left in my body, unlike most of you. I guess community pride is a waste of time. I NEVER waste time and don't appreciate being labeled as such. I only comment on my observations on what is going on around me, nothing more. Something most of you should start doing. Pay attention to what goes on around you! If you want to read more into my post, leave it out of your response or don't respond at all. Just because you think it doesn't make it reality. Are you happy about the messes near where you live? Probably not. Well, not enough to do anything about it. Now who is wasting time?

I agree with you about the mess our highways and streets are in from the people that just throw their trash out instead of taking it home and putting it in their trash can, but I disagree with the people you mentioned in your bio about friendly people living here, I meet friendly people here everyday, there doesn't seem to be a lack of them in the area. there is however an over abundance of overly aggressive, speeding, bad driving roadhogs driving on our highways that I wish would either drive like they had some sense or move to another part of the country.

I'm fortunate that I don't live in a neighborhood where folks pull that kind of stuff. We keep everything cleaned up and picked up......

I've been noticing along the north side loop 101 that there's a lot of garbage flying out the back of the trucks headed for the landfill on the north side of town. Grocery bags and papers are littering the freeway everywhere. And you don't even want to get behind one of those things, stuff flying out all over the place. Pretty disgusting.

I live in a great neighborhood, everyone keeps a manicured lawn flowers clean clean clean, however I no longer live in Arizona, moved
about a year ago:)Neigbors know their neighbors,it was pretty cool when they came with a welcome to the neighborhood gift basket.
Kids are actually out helping their parents with the work,WOW!

NA2US! I'm not even gonna ask you where you moved, but it sure sounds like my childhood neighborhood in Dexter Missouri,

jtaemaz! it isn't so much our neighborhood streets that are so cluttered with trash, but that Maricopa hwy 347 from 1-10 to Maricopa looks like a landfill all the way out, it's a shame that so few people try to keep it clean.

NA2US, tell me please! Where did you move to? It sounds too much like the Mayberry of Andy Griffith's day! Can there really be such a place in today's society???

Tri-Cities,Washington, and I don't mind you all asking.
Three cities merge together, there are 3 rivers that merge together. We were in Arizona for 14 years and decided to move here last summer,to take care of parents.Parents are 83&77 don't need taken care of they are spunkier then we are:)

Washington state sounds too darn cold for me!
If you live on or nesr the coast you have rain too much of the time, if you live inland you're in high desert country. Cold and dry.
Guess I'm stuck with the dirty desert.

No I don't live near the coast and no it isn't cold and dry, actually where I live it's pretty humid.
I don't know what happened to my last post it got lost, what I had said was I was watching PBS,they had a story on the plight of water in your area seems Lake Mead is 100 ft below it's normal level. That they are worried that by the year 2012-2021 that it is going to be in a very dangerous level.People are wasting too much water.CA,NV,AZ rely on the Colorado River.
Now I heard somewhere people can't live without water:) so I do believe I would rather take my chances here where it is a little better where water is concerned.

I was stunned at the blatant waste of water when I moved here. But every time I bring it up at work or elsewhere I get shot down.....seems not many take it too seriously. Our house has a pool, but I wouldn't hesitate to drain it if the water situation gets any worse. And I keep desert landscape with no grass. The developers here keep building all these homes with these lush green lawns that suck down so much water. Businesses seem to be a big user as well with their manicured grounds. It seems not much can be conserved unless threatened with running completely out, sad.

The problem with the Interstates in Arizona having trash all over the place comes from the fact that the State took the necessary funds away from programs designed to clean up the highways every so often. So on that matter you have to complain to your legislators. As far as trash in neighborhoods, here's a suggestion. Go out and pick it up yourself. If it's on your block it's your responsibility to keep your neighborhoods cleaned up. On a side note I find it very interesting that one person on this blog argued with me over something that is done by a certain hospital in this state and they don't even have a clue since they no longer live in this state. Very interesting. Guess the argument was for arguments sake.

Hard to pick up a dumped couch without a truck. I drive a four door Sedan. I walk the neighborhood 3 0r 4 nights a week and every time I bring a trash bag with me and come home with it full so don't tell me to pick up trash loser. I'm the only one that does.

High five on that! Mr. Napolitano wastes the money saved by Sheriff Joe on private helicopter rides for his dates among many other wasteful activities.

I have lived here for 22 years and have seen this place change from a beautiful, friendly collection of communities to an overpopulated cesspool of mostly filth and demonic presence. There are some good people left here, but they are few and far between. I was working one day and met a visitor from another state who was staying two weeks here. They were on their way out of town and they told me that I was the only friendly person they've met while they were here. How sad is that? If I could afford to move I would leave this place and not look back, but unfortunately I can't. I used to love it here but now I only tolerate it.
