Joe Biden, that is!

I am elated that Barack Obama has chosen Senator Joe Biden of Delaware to be his V.P. choice.  He has the experience in the Senate which will augment Barack's policy decisions.  Joe is Roman Catholic and is a strident supporter on expanding Civil Rights for all.  Joe is the current Chairman of the U.S. Senate Committee on Foreign Relations.  Joe is a warrior for higher education.  He is also the Co-Chairman for the International Narcotics Control Caucus which dictates the national drug policies for our country.  Joe has a variegated political history in the Senate that brings honor to Washington.  He was even Chairman of the U.S. Senate Committee on the Judiciary.

Barack has made a wise and pragmatic choice regarding his Vice-Presidential nominee.  Together they generate a surge in America for CHANGE.

He certainly is supporting the Conservative agenda.

If you've seen "American Beauty," you will know whom I am talking about.  Col. Frank Fitts is fictional, yet, he represents the paradigm for those who support the Right Wing in this country.  He was a Right Winger who had to take out Lester Burnham (Kevin Spacey) when the Colonel’s "secret" was brought out into the open.

Col. Frank Fitts and his followers want their wives to constantly live in a Stepford village and keep their mouths shut, opposes a woman's right to choose, will use corporal punishment on their kids, thinks that underarm deodorant is sissy stuff and it is the manly rite of passage to stink, hates Gays, wants war all the time, guns don't kill people (people do), admires his moose head on the wall, downs porn yet sneaks it in, thinks the KKK is patriotic, opposes the MLK Holiday, has a hissy-fit when his taxes go up a penny, illegal immigrants should be placed into concentration camps, higher education will poison your mind with Liberal ideas, lives in the past and does not view the Constitution as a living document that has to adapt to the times, has a passion for the return of the Third Reich, wants people to continue to suffer and die from diseases instead of stem cell research, and thinks this country will come to an end if Obama is elected President.

Don't be a Frank Fitts!  You know who the Frank Fitts Mutual Admiration Society will be voting for on November 4th.

Flameless candles are the current trend for the home.  For entertaining, you can turn your house or apartment into an elegant atmosphere.  The biggest draw for flameless candles is safety.  You can leave these candles on all night and never have to worry about a house fire.  You can place flameless candles inside bookcases and other areas where you just could never put a conventional burning candle.  There is no soot and your candles remain in pristine condition.  The ambiance of flameless candles is serene and will put you in a relaxing mood right away.

There are rechargeable types as well as those that operate on batteries.  I have the kind that are rechargeable, so, I never have to worry about batteries.  Also, the LED lights will last for years.

Stuart Shepard , director of digital media, for "Focus on the Family" appeared in a video pleading for Christians to pray for rain of biblical proportions on August 28 in Denver, the day of Barack's acceptance speech.  The video was pulled earlier this week when about a dozen "Focus on the Family" members objected to it.

Mr. Shepard claims the video was boyishly humorous, yet,  he insists the people feel strongly about the direction Barack will be taking the nation.

To wish flash flooding endangering the lives of others is cruel and an abomination.   There can be fatal auto accidents, drownings, loss of electricity, property damage, and putting the police and fire departments in harm's way.

This doesn't sound Christian to me!  Christians are loving people and never pray for harm to others.

"Focus on the Family" and its members will be greatly outnumbered by the true Christians (not the phony ones filled with hate) who will be praying for sunshine in Denver on August 28.

The Marriage Amendment will pass in Arizona just as any similar Marriage Amendment passed in all of the States.

But, there is a major obstacle fortchcoming that may obliterate those State Marriage Amendments.  If Barack is elected President in November, it is a given that he will appoint a Liberal justice to the Supreme Court during his tenure which will tip the 5-4 Conservative majority to a 5-4 Liberal majority.  All the Supreme Court then has to do is agree to hear one case that brings up the constitutionality of a Marriage Amendment in a certain State, and the 5 Liberal justices will strike down the Marriage Amendment laws as unconstitutional just like the Supreme Court did a few years ago with the case of Lawrence vs. Texas (2003) which struck down sodomy laws in those States that still had them on the books..  There is no definition in the U.S. Constitution that defines marriage. Gay couples would then be able to marry in every State and their marriages will have to be recognized in all 50 States.

By “they,” I mean Conservatives.  Scare the older generation about rebellious youth and you garner votes.  Hitler used the same scare tactics when he denounced the rebellious youth before he came into power.

The hippies were harmless but the Conservatives branded them with every conceivable slander they could muster.  The Communists were going to march right into our country and take it over because the hippies were peaceful and would not take up arms:   Peace, Flowers, Freedom, Happiness!  The hippies had a Communist agenda.  Well, no takeover happened.

I grew up during the 50’s and I will admit that it was a nice, peaceful time.  And you could leave your house without locking the door and leave your bedroom window open at night.  I hated polio shots!  However, there were bad kids during that time that got sent to reform school.  Kids threw firecrackers at cars that resulted in tragic car accidents.  There was Ed Gein.  Teenagers cussed out adults during the 50’s.   Condoms were hidden in the backroom of a drugstore, therefore, many teenage girls became pregnant.  A Jewish grocery store would be picketed if it was open on a Sunday.   Kids were being abused and no adult would believe them. There were children in my own neighborhood who were being abused and molested.   Many schools incorporated corporal punishment which only served to build up anger in youth.  A kid was told not to dare bring anyone into the home who was Jewish or of color.  Every white kid was told repeatedly that whites would one day be made into slaves.   “Better dead than red” was the mantra.  Well, it never materialized.   Conservatives know that kids are impressionable and if you scare the daylights out of them, they will believe the shibboleths told to them.

Conservatives are using the same scare tactics regarding this Presidential election by stressing that Muslims are suppose to take over this country.  Rubbish!   Fortunately, the young voters will no longer pay attention to the fear factor and will vote Democrat.

The New York Times today reported that beginning in 2005, voters registering as Democrats have climbed over a three year period that saw a reduced voter registration for Republicans.  Surprisingly, Nevada and Iowa now can claim a majority of Democratic voters.

What are the long range effects for this political shift?  Voting experts predict that this shift away from the Republicans may have an impact over several election cycles.  This effect has already caused Democrats to win some Governorships and offices in several State legislatures.

What is startling is no shift has taken place over the past couple of years that has placed the Republicans as the majority party in a State where the Democrats still continue to hold the majority.

Change is here.

When things go bad in a big city, the Mayor always gets the blame.  Everyone turns against the Mayor.  It comes with the territory.

When things go good, the Mayor gets praise.

With the recent disclosure of lower crime statistics for the city of Phoenix, Mayor Phil Gordon has emerged with an "A" on his report card.  Victory!

The Recall movement has now been pronounced D.O.A.

Dan Saban is an asset to Arizona.  He treats everyone fairly.  He has been commended for his outstanding citizenship with an accolade of awards.  Most recent award is a prestigious one:   In 2007, Dan Saban was congratulated by Janet and even the White House for his program, “Faith Builders Public Safety Partnership” in Buckeye.

Dan Saban will utilize his 32 year law enforcement experience to ensure that Arizona sets a paradigm against crime.

Dan Saban will not tolerate the illegal immigration issue to become one of racial profiling.  He will go after the real target--criminals.

This new sheriff in town has a plan to reduce taxpayers’ money from frivolous pork barrel plush offices that currently exist for the top executives in law enforcement.  He will use the money saved from those frivolous expenses to recruit more Detention Officers.  Dan Saban also wants to make changes in the jailing system which will save the taxpayer more money.

Dan Saban has the foresight to create rehabilitation work programs which will prevent repeat offenders from coming back to prison.  Smart man!

I heard on the national news this week that Obama speculated that his choice for VP will be someone who is not afraid to tell him if he is doing wrong.

I think the cat has been let out of the bag.

Sounds like Sam Nunn to me.

Georgia is a red State, so, the VP selection would be a logical and beneficial one.

Historically speaking, the Loyalists (conservatives) did not want to break away from King George III.  It was the Patriots (liberals) who started the Revolutionary War.  America would still be under the Union Jack if it wasn’t for the brave Liberals

Many Conservatives want the war in Iraq to continue for corporate profiteering. The majority of Conservatives are using this war to hornswoggle the citizens.  Liberals never sacrifice American lives for selfish gain.  It’s the agenda of the majority of Conservatives to elongate the war.  A Liberal, on the other hand, would have sent an atom bomb on the night of September 11, 2001 to where Al-Quaeda resides and we would be driving around with Smiley face bumper stickers reading September 12, 2001.

A Liberal tells it like it is while a Conservative tells it like it was.

Many

Conservatives said, “Oh, let’s pray for the victims of the Virginia Tech murders.”  Prayer is fine, BUT is that all there is?  A Liberal will also pray BUT go after the problem – GUNS – and will do all that is necessary to ban them.

Conservatives keep screaming that abortion is murder.  Well, they certainly had enough time to do something about it.  Abortion almost always goes on the back burner when a Conservative gets elected.

Conservatives keep rallying that prayer should have never been taken out of the schools.  Again, they certainly have had enough time to do something about it.  This is a fine example of Conservatives surreptitiously at work to deceive the public.   Liberals don’t want prayer taken out of the schools.  They know kids are praying that they don’t get shot at school.

Many Conservatives want the FCC to fine television networks for obscenities when quite a few do far worse activities with their clandestine lives.

Conservatives have an agenda to scare the pants off America with opposition to gay marriage.   They cite family values at the core.  Whenever “family values” are mentioned, a red flag goes up to a Liberal because Liberals know what that hidden agenda is. Conservatives won’t tamper with divorce laws which are breaking up the marriages.  If Conservatives are so interested in marriage and the family, then go after the real factor for the break-up.

Conservative politicians will come out with phony rhetoric that they are against illegal immigration, yet, they know deep down inside their hearts that they have to go against their constituents because they won’t be elected or re-elected by losing the Latino vote.  A Liberal is not phony on this issue.  A Liberal will want to work with the situation and do the best for the public’s safety.

Whenever taxes go up a penny, a Conservative goes into his “Fred Mertz” routine.  It’s downright embarrassing.

Some Conservatives have this gimmick with tax rebate checks.  Give the populace a little cash and they will go out and boost the economy.  The stingy amount will just about buy a week’s worth of groceries for a family of five.  There is no such thing as something for nothing.  You will have to pay tax on those rebate checks come next tax season.  The Conservatives just played another one of their tricks.

Conservatives have this shenanigan where they want Supreme Court justices who will not legislate from the bench.  How insulting to one’s intelligence because ever since the Supreme Court has been in existence, there hasn’t been a single decision that wasn’t legislated from the bench.

Conservatives love to attack the ACLU as a Liberal cancer.  Tell me, how liberal is an organization who one time took up for a bunch of neo-Nazis to march through a Jewish neighborhood in Skokie, Illinois?

If you want someone who works slow as molasses and doesn’t get the job done, vote Conservative.  If you want someone who is progressive and gets the job done, vote Liberal.

Life With My Sister Madonna

Author:  Christopher Ciccone

Date in Print:  2008

I borrowed this book from the library today and finished reading it tonight.

Madonna has a regimented schedule whereby she goes to bed every night at 11:00 PM and rises at 9:00 in the morning.

Christopher has written a book that turns out to be a plea for his sister to forgive him for any misunderstood transgressions and tells her that he loves her.  I hope Madonna will read her brother’s book because these tantrum episodes between the two siblings are childish and reconciliation is imperative.

Christopher at first liked Sean Penn as his brother-in-law but he admits in the book that he later changed his attitude when Sean confronted him six years after divorcing Madonna and asked him point blank, “Do you have AIDS?”  Christopher stated in this book that what he then said to Sean Penn could not be printed in his book.

Surprisingly, Warren Beatty was very gay friendly.  He would inquire about the gay lifestyle from Christopher and had no hang-ups when he would tag along with Madonna and Christopher to gay clubs where he would be the only straight guy in the place.

Christopher blames the rift between he and his sister stemming from her marriage to Guy Ritchie.

Madonna and Christopher began sending each other a chain of nasty E-mails with language that cemented a long-lasting grudge.  Madonna believes Christopher is a drug addict and laments that he would be nothing without her and she made him what he is.  Christopher wants the bickering to stop and desires to be in good graces with his sister.

There are two sides to every story, but I did find this book to be a daring one for a brother to write a candid tell-all about his sister.

I anxiously went to the IMAX on July 19 to see my favorite Batman villain, the Joker, at his finest.  "The Dark Knight" lives up to all its hype plus more.  The two and a half hour running time can be compared to the thrills of riding down a giant flume at a water park.  No one is going to get bored.

The editing by Lee Smith is brilliant.  I have nothing but accolades of praise for the craftmanship displayed in regards to the editing because so many opposing scenes were molded together and then broken away suddenely as to leave the viewer with nail-biting tension.

This is Heath Ledger's film.  His portrayal as the Joker is the epitome of all villain roles to come.  Since Fredric March won the Oscar for his transformation into Mr. Hyde, Heath Ledger deserves an Oscar!  This Joker is so menacing that when you leave the theater, you will still hear that haunting laughter and remember that flickering tongue.  Witness the scene where he dons a nurse's uniform and destroys a complete hospital and you will enter the mind of the quintessential madman.

The Batmobile along with the Bat-Pod motorbike guarantee cheers from the audience.  The chase scenes are top-notch and to borrow the phrase from Al Jolson...."You ain't seen nothing yet."  It is best to see THE DARK KNIGHT on an IMAX screen to get the optimum experience.  The sound alone will rock your seat.  You also have the added benefit of looking at the gruesome face of the Joker on the extra large screen.

THE DARK KNIGHT is a must!  If you don't see this movie, you will be missing the best popcorn entertainment that a theater can offer.

Buy your tickets in advance because many shows are currently sold out.

I give this movie an A+.

I saw the Ashton Kutcher commercial for Nikon Coolpix so I went to a camera store and purchased one this week.  I bought the latest model which is S52 and it is forest green in color which will be the envy of everyone.  No wonder this camera is in with the "in-crowd."  It's one of those cameras that is the size of a credit card but still incorporates the latest state-of-the-art photo enhancements.  The one touch portrait button on top of the camera guarantees that perfect shot where the face is properly exposed and no red eye.  This Coolpix also takes dramatic close-ups in the macro mode.  The face detection technology is a marvel.  I am impressed with the D-Lighting mode that allows you to brighten an under-exposed photo.  The Coolpix weighs about 4 ounces and you can take it anywhere.

Listen to Ashton!

I am employed with the FBI with 5 years to go before retirement. I like to dabble with poetry, hence, I'm known as "Poet" on the force. Many of my Blogs are controversial, however, there will be some that are innocuous. I hate war. I hate cruelty of any kind. I hate guns. My job with the FBI does not allow me to carry a gun because I told them -- "No Way!" I am married (not recognized yet in AZ) to a handsome Phoenix news anchor (not on Channel 10).
