Dan Saban is an asset to Arizona.  He treats everyone fairly.  He has been commended for his outstanding citizenship with an accolade of awards.  Most recent award is a prestigious one:   In 2007, Dan Saban was congratulated by Janet and even the White House for his program, “Faith Builders Public Safety Partnership” in Buckeye.

Dan Saban will utilize his 32 year law enforcement experience to ensure that Arizona sets a paradigm against crime.

Dan Saban will not tolerate the illegal immigration issue to become one of racial profiling.  He will go after the real target--criminals.

This new sheriff in town has a plan to reduce taxpayers’ money from frivolous pork barrel plush offices that currently exist for the top executives in law enforcement.  He will use the money saved from those frivolous expenses to recruit more Detention Officers.  Dan Saban also wants to make changes in the jailing system which will save the taxpayer more money.

Dan Saban has the foresight to create rehabilitation work programs which will prevent repeat offenders from coming back to prison.  Smart man!

I am voting for anyone who runs against Joe and I voted for him in every election in the past because I liked his 'tough on crime' stance and the miserable jails which should be miserable. However, when he decided to treat others differently based on their race and secretly demanded all the records of everyone who has ever visisted The New Times website, I decided it was time for him to go.

I can agree on the plush offices and reducing management overhead, however why does everyone on the left keep using the term racial profiling? Although not all illegals are of Spanish decent , here in Arizona the majority are. Should the Sheriffs office not pursue ridding the state of illegal Mexicans? If not then how will Mr Saban go about reducing illegals?

Is the Sheriffs office the only law enforcement agency tasked with finding and arresting these "real criminals" or should some , if not most of the blame go on all the city police departments and the State Troopers? Do they not have the ability to apprehend the people on the lists of outstanding warrants?

What plan does he have to change the jailing system? Build multi million if not billion dollar jails? Should WE as taxpayers pay more to incarcerate inmates and provide them with things some of our seniors cannot even affors but will have to be taxed more for to keep criminals in air conditioning, HBO and all the comforts seniors have to give up because their fixed and/or limited incomes can provide for the?

I looked at Saban's website and see nothing more there than a new face with many ideas that will increase the amouts of money being spent enforcing and incarcerating criminal which a major percentage are Illegal aliens.

Mesa and other cities in the valley (from where he was in law enforcement) has almost a sanctuary policy on illegals and is this really what the majority of legal citizens want. I highly doubt it.

Sheriff Joe has some pitfalls but he has saved the state untold amounts of money BLEEP

Dan Saban's plan is a generalized one in regards to realigning the jail system to save taxpayers' money.

From his platform, Dan Saban has an efficient crime sweeping procedure whereby the MCSO will take care of the deluge of criminal warrants that are outstanding along with over 40,000 felony warrants. Now, that is impressive!

Saban's prerogative is to put the real criminals in jail. He wants to cooperate with the Federal Government to ensure that everyone's Civil Rights are not abused in any way. He's impartial and a fair man to all.

Regarding illegal immigration, he wants to work with Immigration Customs.

Thats what they all say, then they bank that "hush" money the drug dealers give them and as always... nothing changes.

Maybe something will change. Change is good! Give Dan a chance and he may prove to be the best Sheriff Arizona ever had.

C2G brings up a good point on drug money aka RICO funds. The current Sheriff spends the funds on vacations to Honduras. And the current County Attorney spends the RICO funds on church groups and book deals for his supporters. Saban will spend the money as it is intended. I like the phrase that people are using on this site, Go Joe Go. I would like to see that too. Go far away Joe Go far away.

Nofear, how can we thank you? I'm sorry one word of your remarks got cut off. That has to be the clearest most concise assessment of the sheriff's office I have ever read.

I suspect that Dan Saban is more likely to run from crime than fight it. I am voting for Sheriff Joe because he's doing a great job! There are as many opportunists trying to scam the county as there are lawsuits against the county. Unlike Gordon and Napolitano who chronically overspend their budget before its fiscal year starts and sneak in new taxes and fees to make us pay for everything twice over, Arpaio runs his operation in the black.

Another kudo for Saban is that he has the endorsement of the Arizona Conference of Police and Sheriffs.

“Dan Saban's plan is a generalized one in regards to realigning the jail system to save taxpayers' money.”

Are you serious, this can mean absolutely nothing. How about a solid plan to save money. This is just another liberal stance that is intended to make people think they are going to be saving money. Where do you think money will come from to build prisons? Are we going to get another property tax increase, more sales tax, increase in income taxes, capital gains? Good lord fellow wake up and think about this. We can’t all live in a fantasy world . Didn’t your time in the FBI (if indeed you are FBI, a clerk maybe because a real FBI agent is required to carry a weapon at all times) teach you anything about the correctional system and associated costs involved? Do you have any idea these criminals enjoy a higher level of living than many senior citizens (with the exception of not being allowed to leave the jail) ?

I read his plans for public safety initiatives, what a load of crap. He wants churches, neighborhood watches and school resource officers to do the job of the Sheriffs?? Nonsense, first criminals don’t attend church and do you really think they are going to listen to a Pastor telling them not to steal? A county wide plan to eliminate gangs, there already are task forces for this and they are failing miserably and he has no specifics on how his approach will help. Maybe throw more money at it?

Illegal immigration holds on detained persons, hey I thought Joe already does this unlike Mesa where he was in charge. And he is using San Francisco and Boston as a model for keeping criminals from repeating offenses. More bull crap, San Francisco is a leader in allowing illegals loose once caught, fact in point the illegal that had numerous priors and was allowed to walk only to kill 3 members of one family for no reason at all.

All in all Saban has no effective policies that he can put into effect. Joe has a proven record, his officers have a proven record. Sure he makes some upset, but those are the one’s that want open borders and will not check
immigration status of arrested people.

Here is what Saban will do, increase costs of detaining and incarcerating criminals and illegals. Spend more money to create more councils to sit around every quarter and talk about how they can do a better job instead of just doing a better job. Have citizens become a police force without the

He runs his operation in the black because he uses RICO funds like they are the pink underwear funds. If all who oppose Arpaio oppose the law, then all those who favor Arpaio favor stopping anyone with brown skin. Go SABAN!!!!
