The New York Times today reported that beginning in 2005, voters registering as Democrats have climbed over a three year period that saw a reduced voter registration for Republicans.  Surprisingly, Nevada and Iowa now can claim a majority of Democratic voters.

What are the long range effects for this political shift?  Voting experts predict that this shift away from the Republicans may have an impact over several election cycles.  This effect has already caused Democrats to win some Governorships and offices in several State legislatures.

What is startling is no shift has taken place over the past couple of years that has placed the Republicans as the majority party in a State where the Democrats still continue to hold the majority.

Change is here.

Actually this seems to be a true trend. The thing the Dems can't do well is get the people out to vote at election time and get them all to vote Democrat. And if they continue to block the energy votes this too will change as people like myself are just about fed up with both parties not doing what they were elected to do. Nancy Pelosi is a prime example, she is going against the popular opinion and not calling congress back for a vote. She should be impeached for not doing the will of the citizens of this great country.

I admire Nancy Pelosi. She does not back down from her convictions. She is the best Speaker of the House this country could ever have.

NoFear, there is no need for a derogatory comment like the one you just issued toward me. I'll let it slide this one time. But next time, I will report you to a Moderator.

Yup, she's the best all right.

Nancy Pelosi has a 9% approval rating. Much lower than the current president's.

Congress as a whole has a 14% approval rating. Again much lower than the president's.

I see nothing derogatory in the statement. Just an observation. However, seeing you are quite sensitive I will refrain from future observations.

Nancy Pelosi will help insure that there are a lot of new faces in Congress after November.

Congress does have a low approval rating but that is because Congress is partisan and much legislation does not get passed. I'm sure there are some other sources available that will give Ms. Pelosi a high rating.

Nancy Pelosi will augment many more Democrats in Congress come November.

NoFear, when I create a BLOG, I respect all those who post replies, and in return, I expect the same. The Forum Rules state there is to be no derogatory remarks made to anyone. I don't make any derogatory remarks about another poster.

When you stated, "I am smoking crack," that accuses me in front of the whole Forum that I am on drugs. Very derogatory!

Some posters may tolerate remarks like that, but I don't.

This is a Discussion Forum and personal attacks must never be issued.

GIG, I'm also sure other sources like Rep. Pelosi. I'll name one - The Sierra Club.

You also said "... the Republicans as the majority party in a State where the Democrats still continue to hold the majority."

What is the source of this statistic that 'the Democrats hold a majority in AZ?' Please don't cite the AZ Republic as they don't count any more than the New York Times for truthfulness.

Gary, stuck in the Suspension of Disbelief. Bush didn't lie. Cheney didn't lie. John McCain didn't lie about Anthrax coming from Iraq Live on David Letterman in October 2001. Just three weeks after September 11, 2001. No that was all a dream, just part of Karl Roves "Age of the Visual" What happens in the White House stays in the White House. It didn't happen, even if proven it did.

It takes time to undo what those "evil doers" did to this country. At least Obama is young, smart, and a Constitutional Scholar that has the "time in his life" and the will to stand up to all those "disbeliefs" we go to sleep with at night and wakeup to "REDISCOVER" as what really happened during George Bush's tenure to date! The Republicans cannot afford "Change" because "Change" means going to jail with the rest of the bunch awaiting their turn to go to jail for their part of todays "BIG OIL 51.5 BILLION DOLLAR 2ND QUARTER TELETHON" Yeehaw, it's the Bush's vs the Hatfields because the McCoys have been consolidated under him already.

AZRon, the Democrats do not hold a majority in Arizona among the registered voters. The Republican Party still holds the majority in Arizona.

To clarify, the Republicans over the past 3 years were not able to turn a State into a Republican one whereby the Democrats held the majority.

Yeah they hold the majority. However, and in true crat style, they figure someone else will do it (vote) due to the obviouse lack of personal accountability you have to have to be one.

Yes, the democrats are really amazing. Since they took over in the beginning of 2007 they have done nothing but alienate the American voters in favor of the party agenda.
No Fear nailed it, people are fed up with the likes of Pelosi and Harry Reid.
Yes, truly amazing how many people can have their heads so anally oriented, but then they are democrats, so maybe not so amazing.

The fact that there is change, doesn't mean it's a "good" change.
The Democratic motto: "If it ain't broke, fix it 'till it is."

Nancy Pelosi has "king george syndrome" give some people a little authroity and it goes straight to their heads, and they think they can act like GOD! She should be brought up on treason for what her and her precious Dems have done to this country in the last 4 yrs.

Not to say the same thing should happen to the GW Bush Administration (8yrs of them) as well

It seems to me that none of you understand how the House and Senate work. Having a one or two person majority counts for nothing. SO, if you are fed up with either, you are fed up with Republicans.

You see, the Dems in the Senate can pass whatever they want, but, if the Pres. vetos it, it takes a 2/3 or 67% majority to overturn it. And, the Democrats make up only 51% of the Senate. THerefore, we are disappointed with the system and the Republicand. Nancy and Harry have nothing to do with your dissatisfaction.

Oh and GIG---my dad, a staunch Republican is edging closer and closer to team Obama as are many more of my Republican friends. His energy speech sealed the deal for my bf last night. I am so excited to see how close the election is in the red state of AZ. (but, keep in mind that we aren't known as the most intelligent state in the union)

Bob-=-Republicans motto: If it's broke, don't fix it, just keep on doing the same thing.

The dem's have done something, they have launched personal attacks on private citizens they have tried to block the air waves they regularly block any legislation that is not of their party even if they agree with it. Now Pelosi shuts down the house for her own power trip and tells other Dem's that are in election trouble to lie (like her) that they will support drilling until after election time. What a good lawyer/speaker she's been, what has she done FOR the country not TO the country

How can a staunch Rep. vote for a socialist?? late term abortion? socialized med.? taxing the success of people and business? I guess they must belong to different Rep. party.
