Stuart Shepard , director of digital media, for "Focus on the Family" appeared in a video pleading for Christians to pray for rain of biblical proportions on August 28 in Denver, the day of Barack's acceptance speech.  The video was pulled earlier this week when about a dozen "Focus on the Family" members objected to it.

Mr. Shepard claims the video was boyishly humorous, yet,  he insists the people feel strongly about the direction Barack will be taking the nation.

To wish flash flooding endangering the lives of others is cruel and an abomination.   There can be fatal auto accidents, drownings, loss of electricity, property damage, and putting the police and fire departments in harm's way.

This doesn't sound Christian to me!  Christians are loving people and never pray for harm to others.

"Focus on the Family" and its members will be greatly outnumbered by the true Christians (not the phony ones filled with hate) who will be praying for sunshine in Denver on August 28.

Guess what bro, I don't think you can hear what they are not saying under their breath. Just because you don't here it or read don't mean that they are not thinking it. If you think it, you may as well say it and do it.

Ghandi is quoted as having said that he might believe in Christianity if it weren't for Christians. Well said.

It's sad that anyone that "says" they are Christian can speak for all of Christianity. In the Bible God says that we will be known as His, when we show love, one to another. (John 13:35) I doubt Stuart Sheppard of Focus on the Family meant he wanted harm to come to anyone, he just picked a poor way to be funny about wanting Obama's speech to be a much smaller event.

You posted "This doesn't sound Christian to me! Christians are loving people and never pray for harm to others." I ask you to please take a minute to listen to Obama's favorite spiritual leader, the very man he has called his brother and pastor. I am talking about a man he has known well for over 20 years. I want you to tell me what you find "Christian" or "loving" about what this man has to say?

I have to question what is in the heart of a man that drives past hundreds of pastors to listen to this one. Mr. Obama has been taught about Christ, and the way to treat your fellow man by Mr.Jeremiah Wright since the early 1980's. Mr. Obama never had a problem with what his "pastor" teaches, Obama had a problem with the world hearing what Jeremiah Wright teaches. If you should care (and I doubt you will) to hear for yourself the HATE Jeremiah Wright has spewed from the pulpit all these years you can do so at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8M-kD0QdRJk or any number of other places his "sermons" pop up.

Please consider that change is inevitable, PROGRESS isn't.

Please consider that change is inevitable, PROGRESS isn't.

I don't feel either man would be our best choice for president, but the fact that Mr. McCain did time as a POW. gives him an insight that I would like the man sending our troops to fight and die, to posses. The fact that Mr. McCain was offered the chance to go home, but McCain refused to leave without the men that served under him shows a courage we don't often see. To be beaten and tortured every day for six years and refuse to go home without the men in your command is more than I can imagine. If I had to pick the man to be president from the two we talk about today, I'm afraid the courage McCain showed in war would make him my choice. If I had to pick a man to send others to fight, I would pick the man that served with those that died.
Please read the facts about McCain's captivity and tell me what you think. You can find them most anywhere but you can start at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Early_life_and_military_ca

In response to this particular statement -

This doesn't sound Christian to me! Christians are loving people and never pray for harm to others

People can represent themselves as anything. How would you know what a Christian really is? Or who really IS a Christian? Their God will decide that. Is Edwards a Christian?

Place no faith or credibility in ANY man.

GIG have you read any of Obama's books? If not I suggest that you do, it might give you insight as to who this man you seem to idol really is...here is just one quote from his book, and these are his very own words...

From Audacity of Hope: 'I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.'

Doesnt sound very Christian to me now does it?

nativephoenician, Saul had a conversion before he became a Christian and took the name of "Paul." Since Barack has now pronounced himself a Christian, this means that any past ties to any other religious denomination has now been severed.

and once the again the hypocrisy of the left shows up. the video by "the focus on the family" group is "intolerable", but the constant bashing of, and hatemongering shown to christians by the left is A.O.K.!!!

I have read statements from Barack himself and he has many good Christian principles. The Far Right is running a smear campaign to paint the man as being aloof from Christianity. I will not believe that smear campaign. Both Barack and John will be addressing a Christian assembly tomorrow.

Some of the people in "Focus on the Family" believe that 9-11 was a justified punishment on the United States.

AKSJFD....Oh yeah. Hate is back in a big way. It's really sad that a religion that is supposed to be based on love has competely lost sight of what love really is.

I hate spinach. Is that OK? LOL - just playing.

Religion always has and always will be something that people will kill for. ANY religion.

People will never interpret the same gospel in the same way. I frankly don't have the patience for it - unlike my father. But I DO believe that every person must believe in something. Even a belief in NOTHING is a belief in SOMETHING.

I am not the smartest man in the world. However, One of the first things I learned that GOD IS LOVE. The second thing I learned about GOD IS THAT IT IS SPIRIT. SPIRIT IS NOT DEFINED BY A PHYSICAL BODY AND THAT INCLUDES JESUS THE SON OF GOD BY SPIRIT ALONE MANIFESTED IN TO THE PHYSICAL BODY. GOD IS EVERYTHING THAT LIVES AND BREATHS.

What say you folks?

nativephoenician, I know there is no such thing as an impeccable politician. I don't believe everything that I read. Every politician has skeletons in the closet. The smear attacks are becoming outrageous on this current Presidential campaign. Oh, it's going to get alot worse. As Bette Davis said in one of her movies, "Buckle up. It's going to be a bumpy ride."
