Flameless candles are the current trend for the home.  For entertaining, you can turn your house or apartment into an elegant atmosphere.  The biggest draw for flameless candles is safety.  You can leave these candles on all night and never have to worry about a house fire.  You can place flameless candles inside bookcases and other areas where you just could never put a conventional burning candle.  There is no soot and your candles remain in pristine condition.  The ambiance of flameless candles is serene and will put you in a relaxing mood right away.

There are rechargeable types as well as those that operate on batteries.  I have the kind that are rechargeable, so, I never have to worry about batteries.  Also, the LED lights will last for years.

Are you talking about the flameless candles you can buy at Walmart? I think Glade or Renuzit makes them.
I have never tried them before. I have a friend who makes her own candles by hand so I just can't imagine buying anything else.

Splat, there are the Glade flameless candles whereby you purchase a Wisp air freshener to place inside and you then get the added benefit of a glowing flameless candle along with the pleasant scent. Wal-Mart sells these Glade flameless candles, and I own a couple of them. They're great. You just press the top of the candle base and the candle will glow for 3 hours and then turn off automatically. You do have to place 2 AA batteries inside about once a month to keep the candle in operation. When you purchase the Glade Flameless candle for the first time, it comes with a Wisp air freshener along with the batteries.

The rechargeable flameless candles that I was talking about....I purchased those at Brookstone.

Do you have to replace the "scent" too? Can you change the scent?

Splat, the Wisp scents have to be replaced about every 3 weeks. The Wisp scents have the puff action which is 24/7 so the air freshener is constantly working. If you get tired of the same scent, you can purchase a different Wisp scent to place inside the candle.

Ok, thanks GiG. If I ever run out of homemade candles I just might try those. I love my candles so it would be hard to switch.

why are they called "candles"? after all, they are really nothing more than battery powered ELECTRIC LIGHTS!!! a CANDLE is a piece of wax with a wick inside that you light on FIRE to provide light.......

They are called candles because in a sense they are replacing candles and the name transfers over to the new device. This is much the same as a golf driver called a wood when they are actually metal but, they used to be wood. The (new) flameless candles are very popular back east.

Randy...that was my first thought when I read the title of the thread...ironic! lol

I'm not too hip on the flameless candle...WHERE IS THE WAX???

I like the scent pods from Gold Canyon Candles...(wife is a demonstrator)...plug in the warmer, turn on the warmer and your home is filled with good scents! Pomagranate right now!!!

My wife also just got the (forgive me for not having the exact name) the oil with the sticks sticking out of the oil...From Gold Canyon.

AWESOME! And I don't have to replace anything forever! The scent pods say they last 20 hours...As many times as we have forgotten to turn off the warmer and left the house...I know I have over 30 hours right now and a lot left in the pod!

The other nice thing is if we get tired of a scent, all we have to do is remove the pod and place a different scented pod on the warmer. We can enjoy Pomagranate in the morning and a different scent for the afternoon and settle down with a third scent in the evening!

I have the best smelling house in Queen Creek!!!
