This story on the foreclosure murder-suicide just blows my mind!

A Phoenix man kills his wife, sets the house on fire, and then kills himself.  He left a suicide email outlining how desperate he was- no money, no where to turn, and about to lose his home.

It's scary thinking about the limits people are pushed to as a result of our horrible economy.  I'm sure many of you (myself included) have at one point or another felt the pinch-- but harming another person or going to this extreme is beyond my understanding.

How very sad...

It really is tragic. As you say, we've all felt the pinch and losing a house would be a tramatic event, but sometimes we probably need to keep things in perspective. Even on our worst days, we are all incredibly blessed in this country and state. There are places we can all get food, shelter, etc and it's not worth the position this poor man felt himself in.

correct you are the adverse effect's of a bad economy does influences ones livelyhood leaveing to dispair.Usually through tough times many fall to religion to help diffuse the depression. It is a shame that this person that commited this selfishness acts of violence did not consult his religious beliefs befor he took the actions.

Serious character flaw. Thousands of people lost all they had in natural disasters this past year but they pick up the peices and move on.

I feel sorry for this mans wife, I wonder if she had a say in the matter. What a selfish, sensless, cowardly crime.

I agree. This guy was a coward. There are millions of people worse off then he possibly could have been yet they find ways to suck it up and persevere. Many of our grandparents made it through the Great Depression and went on to prosperity. Look at POW's and the hell and hopelessness that they go through. Its not the times, Its not the economy. Its the persons lack of inner courage and the unwillingness to accent responsibilty and learn from their mistakes.

things have gotten soooo way out of control. Ok, so lets say you lose your home, lets say its out in BFE (Queen Creek).....you move out, find a rental for less money a month, save gas/property taxes/hoa/homeowners ins in the meantime and in two years turn around and buy another home. You can even use all the money saved for a downpayment!

Americans can be so efing spoiled at times....think for a moment of refugee camps where there are MILLIONS living on dirt, dirty water, and no shelter whatsoever! Now that may call for suicide, but even they can look past things and wish upon a star for a better life.

Waaaahh, my 4,000 sq ft home isnt mine anymore, waaaahh I cant afford my blackberry, my Jag is a gas guzzler, I have to take, oh God, public transportation, THE INSANITY OF PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION!!! what is this world coming to?!?!

If we could all just stop for one sec. and realize just exactly we are biching about, it may all come into focus and we can see that times have been harder, may get harder and we need to pull ourselves up by our OWN boot straps and hussle for a better life, better home, ya'da ya'da ya'da.......

at night when you lay in bed, think....are you healhty? is your family happy and healthy? do you even have a car to bich about gas? Than thank God for the blessings in life you do have, because others are way more unfortunate than spoild asss Americans!

And for Petes sake, please for the love of God stop reporting how bad the economy is on the news!!!! Its not like there is a soul out there that doenst already know. Why keep talking about i

It's funny when people mention turning to their church for help. I know people that turned to a church and they were turned away because they weren't members. This happens everyday. Another fine example of Christians helping Christians. This guy apparently was not all there in the first place. It's called picking yourself back up, dusting off and try again. To give up this way is the cowards way out. I feel for his wife and his wife's family and that's it.

RD - My Grandfather was denied being buried beside my grandmother because he was not a Catholic. Catholics do that but not all Christian groups are one and the same.

I wonder if putting too much emphasis on material possessions and image played any part in this. Did he really have so much pride he couldn't turn to anyone for help? He wasn't the first guy to lose a job and his home and with the way things are going he certainly isn't going to be the last.

look at the world today, withpeople like that woman from el mirage who called a radio station bragging about killing her boyfriend over child support, thugs stealing every piece of metal thats worth anything and sellin it for whatever reasons, women prostitutng themselves for money to buy formula. but our government has bottomless pockets for god d-a-m foreigners who don't do anything but s-u-c-k our country dry! I think we have a problem here!

The sad thing about this is the friends and reletives left behind. The wife was the victim not the killer he had a choice to make and he made the wrong one. As far as I can see he had a bad charator flaw not being able to tell his property from his real values.
RD,
I am sorry for you that you were so disappointed at some time or another by your church but for most of us it is a wonderful thing to be able to find solice in ones religion. You must realize at some point how far out of step with the rest of America you are.

Sad to say, I attempted suicide once - turned out I was mixing the wrong prescription pharmaceuticals (and they WERE prescribed).

"Would have gotten away with it too, if it weren't for those meddling coppers, lol!"

Seriously though, if I hadn't been concerned about what it would do to my wife when she found my body, I probably WOULD have succeeded.

There almost had to be something else involved in this case - even in a distorted frame of mind, the humanity that you grew up with doesn't just desert you. I'll NEVER forget that feeling...

Of course, the poser would be, "What kind of humanity did you grow up with, and possess to this day?" Here I go over-thinking again, lol.

Don are you serious? I'm out of step. You are stuck in the 50's not I. The church never did anything to me other then try and fill my head with magical fairytale BS. I see they have brainwashed you, I on the other hand have a stronger will within myself to be brainwashed.
