You already take off your shoes, belt, jacket, and liquids at the airport security checkpoint.  And for one woman on a flight out of San Francisco, that also included having to take off her bra.

According to foxnews.com, the woman's bra had a large underwire, and set off the metal detector.  Ultimately, she had to take the darn thing off, before they let her on the plane.

Okay...so we've heard of all types of stories like this (remember the woman with the BLEEP rings?)....but do you think this is going too far? or do you think things like this are necessary to ensure public safety?

I'm sorry that woman had to go through that humiliating experience, but on the other hand, if terrorists can put explosives in their shoes....I wouldn't put it past them to start hiding things in their undergarments.  Just think-- the day we have to start putting put our undies through the scanner, may not be too far away!!!  Can you imagine?!?!

If they want me to remove clothing then so be it. Just bail me out when they arrest me for indecent exposure, k?

It's just stupid anymore, what people have to go through to travel these days. We are all subject of our own fears of terrorists.

Whats with the underwire anyway's? Do women really need an underire? Men don't have underwires in their underwear and wouldn't a plastic rod be better? Hmmm did I just invent the travel bra???

Now you have the rest of the reasons we don't fly anymore, and are making no plans.

If you odn't want to go through the hassle of removing metal objects after setting off the metal detectors, do'n have anything on your person in first place.

When I travel I make sure I'm in comfortable clothes, with NO change, NO keys, NO belt, NO cellphone, and sandals so I can easily remove them. All the other stuff is packed in my carry-on. So much easier without the hassle!

But... I do believe they went too far by making her remove her bra. Couldn't they just have a female security officer screen her with a hand-held detector?

Call2Glory, I think you may be on to something there...

Try going through with a metal knee ! I get the Swat team treatment when I set off the detector.I even carry an xray card from the doc, but to no avail. It takes at least 15 minutes more.

Couldn't resist the temptation. I have a friend who has more than one piercing and would set the entire alarm system off. A large ring for a Prince Albert. His wife has piercings that no one else would even consider. Like 17 that last I knew. I can't mention where most of them are at. You just guessed right. Two on the top part and rest below. Say Ouch ! !!

Justold44, a ring in the frenulum or head of the Pen- - approx. diameter 1/8 inch and big around as a 25 cent piece.

It is used for sexual sensation only. Sorry not for me either and I have been around. What's really bizarre is what his wife has pierced and we will definitely not go there.

I think we should all just start taking off our clothes, to get through security. Maybe if they see enough people that shouldn't be seen naked they will take the hint. I know we need security, but it's getting a little silly.

Taking off our clothes ?????????? WOW you really know how to get things on the right track. LOL I just might go for a airplane ride to see if they look at oversize people and their parts. YAHOOOOOOOOOOO I might find me the right pervert at the airlines. LOL Security is keeping your bod covered. However since we all were born without any clothes I just don't see what the big fuss is all about. If GOD has seen us naked why worry about somebody else. We all have started out as babies and gone through high school and some take showers after a physical education program. We are seen by moms and dads, baby sitters, oh hell just take it all off. Everybody needs to have some LOVE. In any direction.

Geez, these rules have been in place for a number of years. If you don't know what they are you can get the info right from the airline your flying. I don't see the problem. I know if i have to fly I will be screened and searched. I suspect this woman did too. And if your real nice to the TSA they treat you nice. If you act like a jerk they will pat you down and require you to remove anything they want. This isn't brain surgery. To me flying has always been a risk, I hate flying and if I can feel better there isn't some radical on the plane with the intention of killing me I feel somewhat safer. The airlines have enough mechanical and maintenance problems so one less thing on my mind make me that much less paranoid of crashing.

Comply with the law or get searched. Simple and quicker. Regards,

I don't have a problem with the x-rays and all that. I've never had a problem except that they usually screen my carry-on bag twice. Guess the wires from my Walkman must look funky. And I HATE underwire bras, so that's no problem. Interesting thing though. I flew my 4 year old grandson home this summer and Sky Harbor treated us like royalty. Go through this line, it's shorter, sit here to put your shoes back on, need any help with that car seat? It was incredible. So maybe we should rent a kid when we need to fly. Nawwwww, maybe not.
