MY TRIP TO D.C.

I just got back from a four day trip to Washington D.C...and boy, what a city! My little sister is spending the semester there (working for Good Morning America), so she served as my personal tour guide. (I would have been overwhelmed, otherwise!)
My favorite spot was the Lincoln Memorial, which is also the site of Martin Luther King's famous "I Have a Dream" speech. There's something so peaceful, yet powerful about that site- it's a hard feeling to describe.
If you've never been to that area- you need to go! I highly recommend it!
TAKE THAT!

For those of you who saw the MTV Video Music Awards earlier this week...then you probably also saw Jordin Sparks lash out at host Russell Brand.
The American Idol star was peeved after Brand made fun of the "Jonas Brothers" who have pledged not to remain virgins until marriage.
I think what she did was very brave! I'm sure there were millions of teens watching that show, and it's comforting to know that they still have positve role models to look up to.
Some artists come across as downright skanky, but Jordin certainly isn't one of them!
Wii TIME

If you saw our 6pm show today, then you saw my story on the new Nintendo Wii Fit game.
It's awesome! This is the most fun I've had shooting a story... I'm glad they're making games like this instead of the ones where you just sit on your caboose and do nothing.
I was just bummed that they sold out so quickly! Just like the Wii system, it looks like I'll have to wait to get one...
Anybody else tried it out yet???
ACADEMY AWARDS

Did anyone watch the Oscars this weekend?
It's ratings were the lowest EVER--and it's no surprise to me. I only watched about 3 minutes, before I thought I'd pass out from the boredom..
There are lots of opinions as to why the ratings were so low-- too many foreign actors, lack of interest in this year's films, the writer's strike, etc....what were your reasons for not watching???
SUPERBOWL PARTIES

Some of us here in the newsroom have been talking about this, and I thought this would make a good blog if anyone else had experiences with this over the weekend.
I don't know if many of you made it out to the Superbowl parties, but I thought they were pretty lame. I went to quite a few Saturday night, and I have to say, I have much more fun on a normal night out with friends.
Maybe it was all the hype? or all the celebrity brouhaha surrounding the events? I kept thinking how I much rather be on my sofa watching Saturday Night Live reruns...than running around in high heels making my way to the next event.
Don't get me wrong, I had a good time...it's just none of the parties lived up to the endless hype we've been hearing over the past few weeks.
Needless to say, I'm certainly looking forward to sofa time this weekend :)
CAMELBACK CLIMB

What a weekend!
Let me start by saying, that for the first time...I climbed to the top of Camelback Mountain!!! It was such a great experience! Yes, it was tough-- but worth every sore muscle. The city looked so beautiful from up there...
My boyfriend climbed it with much more ease than me (in fact, he had to help me quite a bit).
If you've never done it...I totally recommend it!!
I saw this on TMZ the other day....and it's been circulating the internet the past few days.
In case you missed it, there is a picture of Jennifer Love Hewitt's rear-end in a bikini, that is quite revealing. But guys, before you say..."Whoa, right on!" take note: it's not a flattering picture.
She's frolicking around in the water...and well... I'll the picture do the rest of the explaining:

So this is obviously creating a bit of an uproar among some people- particularly those who believe women's bodies are constantly being judged. I remember a similar case not too long ago, where the same thing happened to Tyra Banks. She too, publicly said she loves her body-- and criticized those who made fun of her for it.
So what do you think? Should these stars pay more attention to their bodies because of the industry they're in...or should they be proud of their figures? Or better yet, do they even have room to complain--after all, once you're a celebrity, nothing is ever private anymore...
KANYE'S MOM

Today at 5, I'm covering the story about the mother of rapper Kanye West--who died after complications from surgery after getting a tummy tuck, and liposuction.
Turns out, her plastic surgeon-- Dr. Jan Adams-- has faced two malpractice suits, two drunk driving arrests, and according to TMZ.com, he was even sued for sexual battery.
What makes this story so bizarre-- is that Dr. Adams has appeared on numerous talk shows (including Oprah) as an "expert" in his field. After reading the reports on TMZ, this guy sounds like a total sleazeball!!!
It's sad what happened to Donda West. True, she was warned by another surgeon not to go through with the procedure, but it's still an unfortunate incident. According to the National Organization for Women, getting liposuction and a tummy tuck at the same time, could be deadly. In fact, in every 3,200 surgeries, one person dies...with a higher statistic among African Americans.
I just wonder....had West gone to a plastic surgeon with a more stellar record, would it have resulted in death, as well? Whatever the case...I'm sure we'll find out more in the coming days...
DOG THE BOUNTY HUNTER

Today at 5, I did a story on "Dog the Bounty Hunter" and his hate-filled, racists remarks that were caught on tape.
The tape recording is circulating all over the internet, and includes an 8 minute rant, in which Dog demands that his son break up with his girlfriend, who is black.
He uses the N-word several times, in addition to other expletives, in describing how he feels about his son's girlfriend.
I've seen Dog's show on occasion, and hearing those tapes absolutely disgusts me. He always "seemed" like such a sincere, nice guy. I often saw him praying, giving words of encouragement to the fugitives that he captured, and sharing postive advice with those he knew. After hearing the tape, it's hard to believe this is the same person! He certainly had me fooled!
A&E has since suspended his show-- and with good reason. I, for one, no longer want to watch anyway!
UGLIEST WOMEN ALIVE

Have you ever heard of the Maxim Hot 100?
Well...it appears the magazine has also come up with a list of the "unsexiest" women alive. Here are the top 5:
1) Sarah Jessica Parker
2) Amy Winehouse
3) Sandra Oh
4) Madonna
5) Britney Spears
I certainly don't agree with this list! I say women like Martha Stewart , Condoleeza Rice, and Judge Judy should be on it instead!
But...Madonna?!? C'mon!!! The woman practically INVENTED SEXY!
VIVA SOPRANOS

Alright Sopranos fans! I know a lot of you are with me on this one...
Remember that really bizarre ending during the season finale? The one where the family is sitting at a diner, and then the screen goes black?
Well, now the Sopranos creator David Chase is saying that Tony DID NOT get whacked! Chase says Tony makes it out of the diner alive...which could be the perfect set up for a movie. (although they're not officially saying that..)
I know the finale happened months ago, but still, I wish they had a better ending... I'm still baffled.
DUMBLEDORE-- GAY???

As if there weren't enough hoop-la over the seventh and final book in the Harry Potter series, now, you can add a gay love affair into the mix.
Author J.K. Rowling has revealed the truth about one of her characters: Professor Dumbledore is gay! (If you've read the books or seen the movies, then you know who I'm talking about).
Rowling stunned her readers during a question and answer session on Friday, in which she revealed the character's true sexual orientation.
Ok folks...what do you think about this?
To be honest, I'm not sure a sexual relationship of any sort (gay or straight) has a place in children's literature. It was very surprising to me...
Then again, there's the arguement that this teaches tolerance towards homosexuals... which I'm always in favor of.
I'm interested to hear your opinions!
PUPPY PROBLEMS

I'm sure many of you have seen the video of Ellen DeGeneres crying her eyes out on her talk show "Ellen"
DeGeneres was upset because she adopted a dog from a rescue shelter, and later gave it her hairdresser. Apparently re-giving animals is against the strict rules set forth by the shelter, so they reclaimed the dog.
I don't know about you...but I thought Ellen's breakdown was beyond dramatic! I'm sure she's hurt...but my goodness! Can she keep a little composure?
I agree giving the dog away was very noble of her. In my opinion, it was "the right" thing to do...I just don't think completely losing it in front of millions was the correct solution to her dilemma.
What do you think? Was she over the top, or was her breakdown justified? If you were her, would you have handled it the same way?
THE KINGDOM

I absolutely love going to the movies! Comedies, action flicks, dramas....you name it!
I'm very excited to see "THE KINGDOM" which opens today! As many of you may know, parts of the movie were shot here in the Valley!
I probably won't be able to watch it this weekend, but I hope to catch it sometime in the near future!
For those of you who have already seen it, give me your reviews! Is it worthy of all the hype???

I'm not a big video-gamer, but I know people who are. I was just wondering what everyone thought of the new HALO 3 game? Was it worth all the hype?
I know people who were really excited when it came out...
