Asking around, I have found that many people are democrat, republican, or another party because that is what their parents were.

In MY case, my parents usually voted democrat in most elections, with the exception, my Dad was a Barry Goldwater fan.  My Dad used to always say, "anybody that works for a living is a fool to vote for a republican".    YET, he was always against the government free handouts, people too lazy to work, high taxes, abortion, homosexuality, and other things that democrats stand for.  He was for the death penalty, and a strong military (he was retired from the Air Force).  So actually he was pretty conservative.  BUT, his UNION ued to tell him to vote for the democrats so that was what he did.  He didn't bother to question if the union was in line with what he wanted.

My mother was a little more flexible in her vote.  Her parents were democrats but were very strong in their religious beliefs, like she is.  VERY anti-abortion, anti-homosexual, anti-drug use.  My Mom voted about 50/50 democrat/republican, but was always registered as a democrat.

So I was a democrat in my younger days.  I carried on with my up bringing.  I am ashamed to say I voted for the worst president of all time.  Jimmy Carter.  Please forgive me, I was young and stupid.

When I got into my late 20's and started to make some decent money, I started seeing the democrats as the paycheck robbing Robin Hoods that they are.  I found out the the newspare and TV news were biased.  I started listening to talk radio.

        I SAW THE LIGHT!!

I saw that the democrats were so off in everything.

They wanted to murder innocent babies through abortion, yet they didn't want to give the death penalty to someone that rapes and then tortures and murders their victim.

They wanted to raise my taxes for working hard, then pay more to the  lazy and uneducated with my taxes.

They think sinful things like homosexuality are OK.

They often don't support our military.

And on and on.  They are against almost everything I am for.  And for almost everything that I am against.

So I became a republican.  About 15 years ago I got fed up with the republicans and registered as a libertarian.  I was against the libertarian open border plan, but otherwise, I liked what they were all about.

After 911, I saw for sure that the open borders would not work.  The libertarians wouldn't give up their open border beliefs.  I couldn't support them anymore.  So I have been leaning to the republican party lately.  But they are now watered down liberals.

Im wondering why you people are for your party.  Are you following in your parents or spouse's footsteps?  Did you see the light like I did and switched to something that was more to your true beliefs?

How do you feel about same sex (homosexual) marriage?  On the November ballot, proposition 102 will ban same sex marriage.

I think it is sad that we need to put this on the ballot.  It is a no brainer that marriage should be between a man and a woman only.  So I will be voting yes on Prop 102.

Do you think Arizona should allow same sex marriage?  Do you think that if Arizona allows it, they are condoning it?  How will you be voting on Prop 102.  What say you?

Most of the people that I hang out with tell me they are going to vote for John McCain.  But not a single one of them actually WANTS McCain.  Everyone keeps telling me they can't believe McCain is the Republican nominee.  They are only going to vote for him because they think he will be better than Barack Obama.

I like McCain's military service.  I think he is right to want to stay in Iraq a little longer.  His service in the senate is a DIService.  I think he will say ANYTHING to get elected.  His bad temper will be an issue.  He will raise taxes slightly.  Gas prices will come down a little under him.  I think he will be a lousy president.

As for Obama.  I think he doesn't love the US like a president should, and he is a racist.  He talks a lot and says nothing, but makes it sound good.   He knows we need to stay in Iraq, and if he gets in, we will still be there at least 2 years from now.  I think he will raise taxes on everyone.  He will never come close to getting national health care.  Gas prices will be higher than they are now.

When it is all over, either of these candidates will make poor quality presidents.  But I think McCain will be less of a disaster than Obama.

If you are going to vote for  McCain, why?  Are you like me and going to vote for him because he is the lesser of two evils?  What, if anything, do you LIKE about John McCain?  And if you are going to vote for Barack Obama, why are you going to vote for him?  Is it because you think Obama is the lesser of two evils?  What do you LIKE about Obama?

Looks like the Spanish speakers are taking over.  Soon, they will make Spanish the national langauge.

Rapid Growth For Spanish-Speaking Telivision News Univision At 6 p.m. More Popular in NYC Than CBS, NBC & ABC

TEANECK, N.J. (AP) ? On an evening its rivals were preoccupied with Christie Brinkley's divorce and the capture of a Brooklyn murder suspect, New York's WXTV led its local news with a story about graffiti saying "Get out of the USA" painted near a Peruvian restaurant on Long Island.

The Spanish-speaking Univision affiliate figured it was a more meaningful story for its audience, and those kind of choices are paying off.

Within the past few months, WXTV's 6 p.m. newscast has eclipsed its English-speaking competitors on ABC, CBS and NBC stations in popularity among viewers younger than 49. Sister station KMEX in Los Angeles had more viewers in June for its newscast than any of its English competitors, regardless of age, according to Nielsen Media Research.

Spanish-speaking news outlets all across the country have grown to become major players in their markets and all trends indicate that growth is only going to continue.

"It talks about how the United States is changing," said Ray Rodriguez, president and chief operating officer of Univision Communications Inc., the stations' parent company. "It's a bigger story than just television."

In the New York market, for example, there were 2.7 million Hispanics in 1990 and 4.3 million this year, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.

Ramon Pineda, general manager of WXTV, stands in front of an enlarged map of that market that hangs on his office wall, pointing to different neighborhoods and how they are changing. Spanish Harlem used to be largely Puerto Rican and now is dominated by Mexican immigrants. The Bronx has mostly Puerto Ricans, Colombians have settled in Queens and Brooklyn has Mexicans. The old Cuban neighborhoods of Union City, N.J., now have Mexicans and other Central Americans. Most of the population growth has come in suburbs like Westchester County and Long Island.

It's his business to know these details, both for the news his station covers and to show advertisers that there's more of a market there than they might think.

In Los Angeles, the KMEX call letters are a hint that the audience composition is simpler. Their viewers are about 85 percent Mexican, said Maelia Macin, the station's general manager.

One startling change has been the TV-watching habits of Hispanic viewers. In 1995, most Hispanic viewers in New York primarily watched English-language television (62 percent) over Spanish-language stations (38 percent), according to Nielsen Media Research. Last year, viewers favored the Spanish stations 71 to 29 percent. Similar trends are happening elsewhere.

That might be alarming to people who believe these new citizens aren't assimilating into their new country, but Univision executives say the majority of their viewers' homes are bilingual.

"More and more bilingual Hispanics are tuning to us," Rodriguez said. "I think we're hitting the nerve. They can relate better. As our product has improved over time and more and more people are coming in, people tune in and say, 'That feels more like me."'

The choice is made more for content than language, Macin said.

The Long Island graffiti is one example of a story unlikely to make English-language stations. The Spanish-language stations pay close attention to immigration issues, and are often tipped by viewers reporting raids targeting illegal immigrants. Lou Dobbs, CNN's crusader against illegal immigration, went on WXTV for an interview.

The station has stringers in Mexico, Colombia and the Dominican Republic, and sent its own staffer to cover the Dominican election, Pineda said. Sports will talk about the Mets and Yankees, but also about a big soccer game in Mexico.

With a very heavy concentration of Roman Catholics in the audience, WXTV gave extensive coverage to Pope Benedict XVI's visit to the New York area, with a Spanish-speaking priest in the studio to explain the pope's activities.

General news isn't excluded; it's just that the mix is different. English-language stations covered it heavily when the aircraft carrier Intrepid got stuck in the mud, while WXTV mentioned it briefly in the program's third segment.

About 100 story tips a day come into her newsroom, said Norma Morato, WXTV's news director.

Morato, who worked for CBS' local news before joining WXTV, noticed that many public officials have added Spanish speakers in their press offices.

"They'll see us coming in and have a press conference in English, then say, 'We'll take care of you when we're done,"' she said.

Most news stations try to create a sense of family among their viewers, but the Spanish-speaking stations are more aggressive in cultivating the relationship. They try to be a resource for viewers who have difficulty navigating a culture new to them. WXTV has run phone banks to help register voters, sponsored free breast cancer screenings, encouraged organ donations and helped explain how to call the Better Business Bureau.

KMEX calls its effort "a su lado"—by your side—and once aired a program to tell viewers facing home foreclosure what they could do.

"We do things outside the realm of news, but it gives an image to the viewers that we care," Pineda said.

I think we should make foreign langauge radio and TV stations broadcast one hour of English teaching class for each 4 hours of foreign langauge they broadcast.  This would help get everybody on the same (English) page.  Also the FCC should charge four times as much for a license to broadcast in a foreign langauge.  We could use the extra fee money to fight illegal immigration.  Also the FCC should limit the amount of stations that can broadcast in foreign langauge.  Probably about half as many as they have now.

  What are your thoughts?

PHOENIX - A woman is dead and at least three other people are fighting for their lives after a horrible crash.

Officers say Enrique Acosta ran a red light and slammed into another car. Police say Acosta, who has a history of DUI arrests, may have been at it again.

What makes this accident especially terrible is that police say it was caused by a drunk driver and one who never should have been driving in the first place.

The collision happened at 11:30 Friday night. Police say 27-year-old Enrique Acosta was drunk and speeding northbound on 51st Avenue when he ran a red light and crashed into a car on Camelback.

The accident happened in Glendale but Phoenix police had actually tried to pull him over just moments before.

Acosta struck a car, a Dodge Neon, with a family of five inside. The collision killed one of them and left four others fighting to survive.

Police say Acosta was drunk behind the wheel and has a history of doing so.

In fact, Acosta has been convicted of DUI twice before and was even sentenced to four and half years in prison. He was only just released earlier this year.

Acosta and the female in his truck were also taken to the hospital but are not seriously injured. Acosta now faces many serious charges.

Two adults and a 3-year-old remain in critical condition along with a 9-year-old who is listed in serious condition.

When are we going to take drunk driving seriously? Do you think this guy should get the death penalty?

One of our US border patrol agents was assaulted by Mexican thugs throwing rocks.   I'm thinking the agent was affraid to use his gun to protect himself.  He was probably affraid he would end up in jail like border agents Ramos and Campeon.

There have been 201 assaults on our border patrol agents since October 1.

We need to give our border patrol agents the authority to "shoot to kill" anyone that tries to interfere with their duties.

        Here is the story:

DOUGLAS - A U.S. Border Patrol agent required medical treatment after he was pelted with rocks while trying to arrest five illegal immigrants near Douglas.

The Border Patrol says as the agent suffered a 5-inch cut on his head Sunday night when he was showered with rocks thrown over the fence along the U.S.-Mexico border.

The illegal immigrants he was trying to arrest fled back into Mexico, officials said.

The agent was airlifted to a Tucson hospital, where he was treated and released.

The Border Patrol's Tucson Sector says there have been 201 assaults on its agents since Oct. 1, the start of the agency's budget year.

The sector encompasses all of Arizona except the southwestern corner of the state.

Do you think we need to give our agents authority to defend themselves?

Sheriff Joe Arpaio has arrested 13 illegals as they were selling food on the strrets of Maryvale without a health license.  For several years I have been saying those venders should have to have licenses.

Now the crybabies are crying about Joe doing his job.  Even Mayor Philberto Gordon is upset.  You would think he would care about the safety of the Phoenix people.  These same crybabies would be crying if they found out their local fast food joint was operating without a license.  But if an illegal is selling something unhealthy, well that is just fine.

     Thank God for Sheriff Joe.

I see that in Alaska they are seeing record COLD temps this summer.  If my geography is correct, Alaska is up north towards the north pole.  I guess we will not have to worry about the polar ice caps melting THIS year.

      See the story HERE:

I also see that it SNOWED in Sydney Australia today.  It hasn't done that since the 1930's.

Al Gore's book is full of lies.  Global warming is a bunch of horse hockey.  And everyone that believes that global warming is true, if full of horse hockey.

The state of Arizona needs helpers to work the polling places.  I know there are some crybabies on these blogs that think they were short changed at the polls last election.  Here is your chance to volunteer and make sure you and others get a fair chance to vote.  They even pay you.

Check out the info here:   http://www.azsos.gov/election/2008/Info/poll_recruitme

Volunteer or don't cry about your vote being thrown out.

But there is a catch, and I think the reason some of your ballots were thrown out.  You have to be a LEGAL citizen.

We will be voting for a new governor in a couple of years.  Some people are gearing up to be in the running.  The list of people that I think will be running are:

Phil Gordon - soon to be recalled Phx mayor.

Terry  Goddard - current AZ Attorney General

Rick  Romley - former Maricopa County Attorney

Andrew Thomas - current Maricopa County Attorney

Bob Goldwater - attorney and Barry Goldwater wannabe

J.D. Hayworth - talk show host & former AZ congressman

I know some think Joe Arpaio should run, but I doubt that he will  run considering his age and love of his sheriff job.

Out of the people that I have listed, who would YOU vote for.  If I haven't listed who you think should be our next governor, please pick ONLY from my list and then tell who you would like to see run.

A story in the AZ Republic tells about Phx mayor Phil Gordon's new look.  He spent $14K on his teeth, bought some new suits, some fancy jeans, and is sporting a new doo.  The article says he has been known in the past  for his ability to bring people together and his sloppy suits.  I thought he was known for making Phoenix a sanctuary city.  In the end of the article he says ;  "But you do have to reflect what you believe in terms of your city..."  If that is the case, he should be wearing a sombrero.

Do you think Flash Gordon is HOT looking?  He still has that doofy crooked mouth.

  Here is the article.

Flashy Gordon

Have you heard the latest about Phoenix's fair mayor? Suddenly, he's sexy.

Mayor Phil Gordon is popping up around town wearing Prada sneakers and whiskered $200 jeans, his hair tousled just so.

He lost 20 pounds, found a new hair gel and the town is atwitter over his new sartorial glow.

Long known for his ability to bring people together and for his schlumpy suits, too, Gordon now makes appearances wearing William Rast designer jeans, endorsed by Justin Timberlake.

"He is so hot right now," says Joanna Peters, 39, a former campaign worker who ran into him at the Arcadia Independence Day parade, where Gordon had local moms giggling to each other about his newly svelte silhouette. "I was like, 'That certainly doesn't look like my mayor.'

"He looks a lot more relaxed since the election is over. He's definitely been working out, and he's definitely done something different with his hair."

There he is, drawing long looks in a crisp oxford shirt with the sleeves rolled artfully, at Target at 8 a.m. on a Sunday. Guests at his April birthday party whispered to each other about the debut of his Prada shoes (a bargain snared from Last Chance in Phoenix, his wife, Christa Severns, said). At the Arcadia parade, he wore his rock-star jeans with a blue-striped button-up, a loosely knotted tie and his hair mussed just enough.

"I am four months younger than the mayor, and look 15 years older," says Scott Phelps, Gordon's spokesman.

In fact, at age 57, the mayor looks about 40, and why yes, he'd love to chat all about it.

"I've been running at lunch," says Gordon, who also hits the Murphy Bridle Path in Phoenix and runs 2 to 3 miles each day.

"I have a tan, and I had - probably the most important thing - $14,000 of non-cosmetic dental work done," says Gordon, who broke a tooth on a chocolate chip. "Ice cream, chocolate and caffeine - those are my three food groups."

Even so, "over the last two years I've dropped maybe about 15 pounds, maybe a little more," he says - at least 20 pounds since he first took office. And Gordon's hair is as dark as ever.

"This is all-natural, not dyed," he says.

The mayoral makeover really took hold when Gordon was photographed for the cover of The Republic's May issue of AZ magazine, and trendy stylist Shauna Thibault got her hands in his hair.

"She ran - appropriately - her fingers through my hair twice and created my new hairstyle," Gordon says. "She told me to get a new gel and use it."

His new magic gel is aptly named Power Play, made by Tigi's Bed Head for Men, and Gordon uses it to create that stylish undone look. He also has shifted his local loyalties, spending a little less time at Tammie Coe Cakes, he says, and a few more minutes browsing downtown clothing boutiques like Spoken. He is even going to be the "star model," he says, in a fashion show for downtown boutiques this fall.

"He wears all our clothes," says Spoken co-owner Jodi Mickelson, who picks outfits for the mayor and sends them to his office. His favorite shirts, she says, are by Robert Graham. You've seen them out in Scottsdale - think long sleeves, bright colors and turned-up cuffs heavy with embroidery.

Gordon knows his old suits didn't fit quite right and that his look was on the sloppy side. His chief of staff, Deb Gullett, used to give him the business every time he had a big speech.

"It was, 'Comb your hair,' and, 'You have to get suits that fit,' and, 'You can't have a State of Downtown (address) looking like that,' " Gordon remembers. "And she's from Iowa."

Now his tailor, Minas Zistatsis of Brothers Tailor & Clothing on Central Avenue, watches out for his wardrobe.

"He calls me and says, 'You need another suit. I've been watching you on TV,' " Gordon says.

A stylish mayor can be a perk for a city - think of San Francisco's heartthrob Gavin Newsom. It can't hurt Phoenix to have our poster boy wearing the same jeans as Justin Timberlake.

"I'm not making Top 10 best-dressed lists, although I think I have now passed Mark Grace," Gordon says. "But you do have to reflect what you believe in terms of your city, and ours is a dynamic, younger city on the move. If you convey the image of old or slow, I don't think the city would move as quickly."

I see Sheriff Joe Arpaio went back to Mesa and rounded up 10 illegals in about an hour.  Looks like he can get a lot more of those criminals off the streets if he doesn't warn them.

FOX 10 interviewed a few people that were affraid to go out on the street because the good sheriff was at large.

GOOD!    Maybe the illegals will get worried that they will be caught and move on to another state.  Then they can be a burden to some other tax payers.

How do I know they were illegals?  Why else would they be affaid to go out on the streets.  I hope sheriff Joe watches the news and goes back to the business and picks the interviewed illegals up.

We need to do these sweeps more often and clean these lawless illegals out of here.

       Thank God for sheriff Joe!

Here is an article I got off the Drudge Report about nuclear yellowcake in Iraq.  Although it isn't to the strength to make a "dirty bomb" directly, it would make a very dangerous situation if put in a bomb.  And can be used with the right tweeks to make a "dirty bomb".  It is my understanding that Sodomy Insane was not allowed to have this.

So for most level thinking people, this is removal of tons of weapons of mass destruction material.  Are there any of you that are still in denial about WMDs?

It is widely known that Phoenix mayor Phill Gordon bends over backwards to help illegal immmigrants in Phoenix.    So a recall effort has began  by Phillip Quihuis to recall the incompetent mayor.  They need 23,751 signitures on the petition to recall the mayor.

City Attorney Gary Verburg has instructed employees of the City of Phoenix that they are not allowed to sign the petition.   I think that is unfair.   I think any registered voting resident of Phoenix should be able to sign the recall.   I have to wonder if there is a conflict of interest.

Here is the AZ Republic article written by Casey Newton that tells about it.

If Mayor Phil Gordon is forced to stand for a recall election this fall, employees are free to vote for his ouster.

But in the meantime, they can't work to push him out.

City Attorney Gary Verburg has instructed employees that they are not allowed to sign the recall petitions being circulated by American Citizens United. The group argues Gordon should be removed from office for failing to do enough to stop illegal immigration.

The city says most political activity by employees is prohibited by Administrative Regulation 2.16, which is based on the federal Hatch Act. But the ban doesn't sit well with Phillip Quihuis, who is organizing the recall effort.

"I think they're taking an overly broad and liberal interpretation of that (regulation) to keep people from signing," Quihuis said. "I think it's unconstitutional. I don't see how they can stop somebody from signing a recall petition on a Saturday afternoon."

Verburg said the regulation is designed to protect employees from political pressure; to donate to politicians' re-election efforts, for example, or to campaign for them in public.

"It's to make sure the civil service maintains a professional demeanor," Verburg said. "Those laws are really designed to protect the employee, to prevent undue influence form being exercised on them by any candidate, pro or con."

Quihuis said several employees told him they wanted Gordon to be recalled.

"We would run into city employees who said they wanted to sign, but they said they couldn't," he said. "They were afraid a supervisor would find out, and they feared some kind of retribution."

Quihuis needs all the signatures he can get. To force a recall, his group needs to gather 23,751 by the end of August. He declined to say how many he has gathered.

"We definitely have enough petitions out there circulating to get the signatures we need, Quihuis said. "As long as everybody brings back their petitions filled with signatures, there will be definitely be a recall. We're just waiting for our volunteers to start bringing them back."

What do you all think.  Do you think mayor Gordon told Verburg to have the opinion that he has?  Or do you think Verburg really believes that  City of Phoenix employees can't sign the petition?  If you are a registered Phoenix voter, did you sign it, or are planning to?
