My sense so far covering the Democratic Convention is that dems have some concerns about Obama and whether he can win this thing. Certainly his opponent, Hillary Clinton along with her husband did the best job raising doubts about Obama's experience for the job.  I think those doubts linger.  I sense some unease in the hall.  Maybe its just typical democrat angst because of recent elections.  A sure thing (Obama elected) seems to be slipping away into at least a very close race and maybe a loss in November.  Dems need reassurance.  I don't know if the Clintons can do that over the next two nights. Then its up to Obama on Thursday night.  A tall order to eviscerate doubts in one speech.  Stay tuned.

I think 90% of Hillary fans will vote for Obama over McCain. They may think he is unfit to be president, but they will want Obama over McCain.
I am like the Hillary fans in a way. MY guy didn't make the cut, so I will vote for McCain and hate myself for doing so.

I agree John, I think the mystique has worn off, and the reality of Obama's true qualifications is coming into perspective.

Personally, I've warmed up to McCain the war hero, but that alone does not automatically qualify him as deserving of the Presidency.

Either tonight will be a Love Fest or the fireworks should start with Hillary's speech. What will her supporters do? I think the real tone of this convention will be set tonight.

Tomorrow night will cap it off with Bill Clinton's speech.

Last night was a bust. Just more of the same ol', same ol'. Kennedy got the sympathy. Michelle was uninspiring.

I'm glad you're there John and not me.

McCain didn't realize that he owns seven houses, but at least he knows we do not have fifty-seven states in this country.

If democrat: Bring back the Truman types if a presidential candidate or politician serves:

Harry S. Truman an Honorable Democrat.
"It doesn't matter how big a ranch ya' own, or how many cows ya' brand, the size of your funeral is still gonna depend on the weather."
Harry Truman.

When President Truman retired from office in 1952, his income was substantially a U.S. Army pension reported to have been $13,507.72 a year.
Congress, noting that he was paying for his stamps and personally licking them, granted him an 'allowance' and, later, a retroactive pension of $25,000 per year.

When offered corporate positions at large salaries, he declined, stating, "You don't want me. You want the office of the president, and that doesn't belong to me. It belongs to the American people and it's not for sale." Even later, on May 6, 1971, when Congress was preparing to award him the Medal of Honor on his 87th birthday, he refused to accept it, writing, "I don't consider that I have done anything which should be the reason for any award, Congressional or otherwise."

We now see that past presidents, have found a new level of success in cashing in on the presidency, resulting in untold wealth. Today, many in Congress also have found a way to become quite wealthy while enjoying the fruits of their offices. Political offices are now for sale.

I think good old Harry Truman was correct when he observed, "My choice early in life was either to be a piano player in a whorehouse or a politician. And to tell the truth, there's hardly any difference. I, for one, believe the piano player

I, for one, believe the piano player job to be much more honorable than current politicians."

Where do they find another Harry, they sure could use one - NOW!!

Democrats bickered among themselves Tuesday about how hard to attack John McCain as the party's former dominant couple. Maybe if they concentrated on Obama and "WHAT HE PLANS TO DO ONCE(IF)HE'S IN THE WHITE HOUSE" might help out there cause. All this bickering is making them look juvenile. For me this (whole 3yrs worth)of election process has just about worn out my last nerve. Its to the point that when a TV station starts talking "election2008" I take my remote control and CHANGE THE CHANNEL. At this point I really could give a rats arse who wins because both parties are an effin JOKE. Neither one wants to take about what he will do as President, how he maybe will effect "change", all they want to do is sling mudd and Im tired of hearing it. LET TALK ABOUT WHAT THERE PLANS ARE ONCE THEY ARE ELECTED. NOT THE OTHER PARTY AND WHAT STUPID THINGS THEY DID WHEN THEY WHERE 5YRS OLD!!!

Ladies and gentlemen what you are seeing is the political equivalent of a ‘Coyote Ugly Moment”
To those not familiar with what that is its when after a late night trolling the bars and drinking to much you settle down with someone for the night. The next morning you wake up look over at your partner and want to chew your arm off in order to get away with out waking the hound.
Pity the poor Democrats they are having a Coyote Ugly Moment.

Regardless of what the sentiments are, each candidate needs to start focusing on policies instead of attacks. During the DNC, Obama needs to make sure that he addresses in detail what he has to offer to the American people. He has scrapped the surface and now he needs to dig deep and go beyond "promising change." Give examples, Barak. Tell me how you are going to change my life. Tell me how my future and the future of my children is going to improve under your leaership. I have no doubt that you can be a great leader, but I need to know what, specifically, you can do for America.

I just watched Hillary's speech. WOW! I was impressed! I decided I am going to vote for Obama.
NOT

As most of you on this site would agree... Hillary Clinton is considered by you guys as a liberal. There is no way anyone who was for Hillary is simply going to vote for McCain out of spite. Clinton's views more closely resemble that of Obama not McCain. It would not make sense to me if a single Hillary supporter voted for McCain because their politics clearly clash with one another... it's just like the people who were all for McCain and said they weren't voting for Bush... the bottom line is that they all came around for Bush eventually. I really think this election will come down to whether or not people 30 and under vote this time around. If that happens Obama most likely will win big. Just my opinion.

John Hook......what Democratic Convention were you at. While watching it after Hillary's speech I think alot of the Democrats will do what she asked them to do. Support Barack.

When you say the Dems...surely you don't mean all Dems. I agree with KenofAZ. A large % of Hillery supporters will go with Barack.

Let's see what happens after tonight when Joe Biden does his speech.

Hillary Clinton's 08/26/08 'speech quotation' from the Democratic convention.

"I am honored to be here tonight. A proud mother. A proud Democrat.

A proud American. And a proud supporter of Barack Obama."

Being the former First Lady and the wife of the Former U. S. President,

you'd think she might have included her husband in her statement.

Apparently, she was not proud of Bill Clinton! (Not even a crumb of a word!

Regardless of one's politics, for a person of stature to omit one's spouse is truly cold.

It was sad and pathetic and inexcusable!

*** I even felt sorry for Mr. Clinton.

Concerns about Obama?

"Barack Hussein Obama, is an eloquently tailored empty suit.
No resume, no accomplishments, no experience, no original
ideas, no understanding of how the economy works, no understanding
of how the world works, no balls, nothing but abstract empty rhetoric
devoid of real substance. Barack Hussein Obama, is an eloquently tailored
empty suit. No resume, no accomplishments, no experience, no original
ideas, no understanding of how the economy works, no understanding of
how the world works, no balls, nothing but abstract empty rhetoric
devoid of real substance. He has no real identity. He is half-white, which
he rejects. The rest of him is mostly Arab, which he hides but is disclosed
by his non-African Arabic surname and his Arabic first and middle names
as a way to triply proclaim his Arabic parentage to people in Kenya .
Only a small part of him is African Black from his Luo grandmother, which
he pretends he is exclusively. What he isn't, not a genetic drop of, is
'African-American,' the descendant of enslaved Africans brought to America
chained in slave ships. He hasn't a single ancestor who was a slave. Instead,
his Arab ancestors were slave owners. Slave-trading was the main Arab
business in East Africa for centuries until the British ended it.
The absurdity of Hypocrisy Clothed In Human Flesh being their Savior is
all the more cause for liberals to worship him: Credo quia absurdum!
...majority of Americans remain Christian and are in no desperate need
of a phony savior."
