Someone asked me, why all the comments about the wardrobes you guys wear.  Well why not.  You guys were practically turning Friday into Freaky Friday with the awful looking stuff you were wearing.  Now some of you manage to make it look like you are in Mourning on Monday.  I think a little more cheerfulness on Monday and a little less freakiness on Friday might be in order.

I was listening to Beth an Bill this morning and you mentioned that Bill is from New Mexico or spent some time there.  I would like to know where.  I lived in ALbuquerque for so many years I consider it my home town now.  I also have a tip about the beans.  My brother used to make pretty good beans by soaking them in lukewarm water and baking powder.  He kept the water just over the top of the beans for 24 hours prior to cooking.  This has the effect of softening and moistening the dried beans and reducing the gas.  Then you cook the beans until tender and hot through and add whatever spices you like.

Dear Sirs

I must say that today the News team looked pretty good.  But frankly it looked like they were all in uniform.  They all wore the same black.  The men were in black suits, white shirts, and blue ties.  The women were in the same black dress.  It honestly looked like they were in mourning because it was Monday.  How about lightening things up a little with a bright cherry red or a nice royal blue.  I mean, is mourning really the note that we want to start the week off with.

On the lighter side, I caught the news broadcast Friday morning again.  I must say everyone looked terrible.  They were so invisible in the colors they were wearing we could only tell where they were by their voices.  Ron Hoon was wearing a dark brown shirt and a dark brown tie.  Someone thought he might look good in that.  Heaven forbid that he should every wear it abain.  Rick d'amico destroyed his own face with the outfit he was wearing.  It was terrible for him.  Even Jenna looked unbelivable bad is what she was wearing.  All of you need to wear what are called cool colors.  That is you should wear dark blues, a bright cherry red, and white.  All of you wopuld look spetacular in those colors.

I have a serious question for your investigatgive reporters and would appreciate a serious answer.  Is it possible that PayPal and other online payment systems could be used by the mob to launder money?

Thank-you.

Thisw is a small comment on the same program about the Cyber Millionaire.  He actually had his mother on for a short time.  She had something to say in a coupld of minutes that I think we Americans nood to look into more.  She talked about her fear in leaving her extyended family in Tibet.  The thing is the way this econ omy is going, I think the extended family may have to come beck into voque.  She said that the was afraid, leaving all that child raising experience behind.  She would not have anyone to go to if there were problems with any of her children.

For years people have complained that parenthood came without an owners manuel.  Well it turns out that tne extgended family might have been it.  It might well be that throughout most of the generations of humsn kind young parents did not need an owners manuel for raising children.  They had the inlaws to go to.  That is the same woman who raised your husband helped you raise his children.  And you did the same for your daughter- in-law.

Well I guess this comment got a little longer then I thought it would.

Dear Mr. Hoon,

I haven't seen you for the last couple of days because I am following the Olympics.  But the last time I did see you I must say that you looked great in a dark blue or black suit a white shirt and a somewhat darker blue tie.  I really think that dark blue is very much your color.  You look like the sharp newsman I know you to be.  Note to Rick D'amico:  You and the Hooner should be the dark blue suit twins.  You both look great in that color.  You might also add cherry red ties.  As far as appearance goes you would be the envy of every other newscaster on TV.  Might I suggest that dark blue pinstripe would be great too.  Note to Alexis:  She should burn every thing she has that is beige.  It kille her complexion.

You looked a lot better in the blue shirt today, but the Gray Suit should definately be a thing on the past.  In fact I have never seen you look sharper then when you wore a dark blue suit, white shirt, and dark blue tie.  Your complexion is what some people would classify as a cool complexion.  The best colors for you will always be dark blue, bright red and white.  It might help if you think of it this way, you should always look like the American Flag walking down the street.  If it helps, I'm a cool too.

Well this will probably be my last post for the day.  I saw a program on Channel 8 the other day called "Wide Angle."  This one featured a Cyber millionaire of Tibetan descent from Australia.  His issue was the environment and trying to save the rainforests of Indoneasia.  That is a country of islands about where the Pacific Ocean meets the Indian Ocean.

He had a few things to say which made a lot of sense and which we should think about.  First of all, he stated honestly that the United States and China were sometimes refered to as the 'Bonnie and Clyde', of the environmental movement.  This came from a fellow who likes America and acts like it.  I think that ought to get us thinking and trying to get rededicated to doing something.  A lot of people do not know that we originally came up with the solar and wind technology that other nations are now putting to good use.  Why we didn't use them was because of congress blocking their development.  There were tax incentives at one time, but they seem to be gone now.

The other thing I would say about what he was trying to do is this.  He seems to have understood computers and logic very well.  But people don't do things because of computers and logic.  They do things emotionally.  He wants to try to save the rainforest in his part of the world without using an emotional resource that might work very well for him.  People react far better to saving animals then they do plants.  And if it is an animal that looks a lot like them so much the better.  I think the fellow, whose name I don't remember, should use the idea of Save the Orangutang.

I saw T Boone Pickens on a commercial on TV lately and I wonder if anyone else saw it.  He was suggesting that America get into wind farms and creat energy that way.  I would say to him if I can, that he should invest his own money in it.  I think, with a little luck, it just might work at least as well as the wind farms I saw in California.  If I did have any money to invest, I just might try it here in Arizona too.

But I really think that people have to believe that someone like Mr. Pickens is really dedicated to the proposal.  And that won't happen until he puts some of his own money on the table.

This is something of a personal note to Ron Hoon, The Hooner.  I bet anyone who considers themselves your competition likes it  a lot when you wear that orange shirt.  It makes your face just fade into the woodwork.  I would guess that they don't like it when you wear a white shirt because you really stand out then.

Well it has been a while since I have written here again.  I am sorry to say that the world lost a giant the other day.  Alexander Soljeneatsen died.  If I misspelled the name, I am sorry.  But I feel that his writtings helped to bring down the 'evil empire' that he first fought for and then worked against.  I was glad to hear that the US was able to give him shelter for a time and that before he died and while he was still healthy enough to enjoy it, he was able to go home again.

This might just have been a funny slip, but I would like to congradulate Americans for driving 9.2 trillion miles less last month.  In fact I think the number is closer to 9.2 million or 9.2 billion.  But the fact is that we are driving less and experiencing thebenefits of it.  Air pollution has actually gone down a measur -able amount.  The price of gas has come down by several cents, and over all health of Americans has improved slightly because we are getting more exercise.  I hope and pray that we keep it up and make that 9.2 trillion dollar figure a reality.

I hate to say it, but I have finally decided that the Ecnonmists have got the economy figured all wrong.  They say that there is nothing to worry about with the inflation because the core infla-tion is not that bad.  But when they say that they have taken food and fuel out of the equation.  That is one of the worst things they could have done because food and duel are so important to the American public.  Also core inflation, that is the things Americans buy besides food and fuel, has not gone up because merchants are offering such great sales right now.  In my day, it used to be rare to see a sale with 50% off.  Now 75% off is common.  But the problem is that it is not working as well as merchants hope.  The problem is that when people are loos-ing their homes at such a record rate and having trouble buying food and gas, thay aren't going to buy other things even at those prices.  So when the merchants start posting record losses they will have to start closing their doors.  That will lead to rising unemployment.  I am afraid to think just how high it will go.

Did anyone catch Bill Moyers Journal last Friday night?  I wish I knew who his guest was, but I did not catch the name.  At any rate Bill asked him how we could get controll of our consumer debt.  The man had an excellent answer.  He said to put the usery laws back in place.  He said something about most nations having usery laws in place that prohibited the charging of such high interest rates.  That is why people in those countries can actually get out of debt before they die.  I have heard that lending institutions in this country laugh about that.  They think they have the American public hooked.  But with good usery laws we could get unhooked.
