How long is too long to respond to a life-threatening situation?

Imagine for a moment that you are sitting in your home in front of your computer and next to your phone. Suddenly, a violent criminal comes through your window. You immediately call 9-1-1. Now look at the clock and see how long 16 minutes takes. Imagine how long 16 minutes would feel if this violent criminal were inside your home.

  •      • Over one-quarter hour....
  •      • Half the length of a prime time television program...
  •      • 960 seconds...

That’s how long it would take Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio to respond to a violent criminal in your home. If it sounds like too long, it is. The Maricopa County Board of Supervisors has mandated a five minute response time for the MCSO. Currently they are missing this critical benchmark by 300 percent.

It's time for a new Sheriff.

This is how much money your boy Joe has saved you.

$42,000,000.
paid out by taxpayers to settle lawsuits filed against Joe Arpaio and the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office (MCSO).

$5,500,000
paid out in rent to house Arpaio's senior staff in the private Wells Fargo office building.

$12,000,000
paid in increased insurance premiums, as a result of the recklessness Arpaio's poor management and horrific record of lawsuit losses.

$5,000,000
insurance deductible, which is the amount Maricopa County taxpayers have to pay before a single penny of any lawsuit loss is paid by the insurance company.

$500,000
for five full-time public relations staff whose job it is to keep Arpaio's name in the news. One is even assigned to promote Arpaio overseas.

$250,000
is the estimated cost of Arpaio's foreign policy escapade in Honduras. This is a combination of taxpayer money and RICO funds, which are supposed to be used to combat crime in Maricopa County, not a foreign country.

$750,000

spent last year alone on outside counsel, who were paid an average of $150 or more per hour --of taxpayer money-- to defend Joe Arpaio.

Total: $61,000,000

Last night I went to see Lyle Lovett perform a 2 1/2 hr set  at the Dodge Theater. He surrounded himself with some of the best musicians this world has to offer. Thirteen to be exact not counting the Gospel ensemble. While everyone knows I am not a big "God" fan I still enjoy gospel music. Almost every genre of music was played. Classical, Blues, R&B, Bluegrass, Country, Country Western, Country Rock and Gospel. Lyle would open most of the songs with a story as to how the song came about. The man is as funny as any comedian. He also spoke of his roots right here in Phoenix and Arizona. He pretty much got his start here opening for The J. David Sloan Band. A Mr. Lucky's house band for years. He had J. David and members of the band on stage nearly all night. I can't say enough about what a great singer songwriter Lyle Lovett is. I suggest when he comes through Phoenix next time all the Country fans and even non Country fans go check him out. He does not disappoint.

I visited your website today and to my astonishment there was actually a Faith Blogging Section. Is life so boring you people need to blog about your imaginary friends "God" and "Jesus"? Oh and let us not forget that Freaking Talking Snake. Fairy tales are for children. This needs to be addressed because it's high time adults wake up and come out of  fairytale land known as the "Holy Bible". It was written by a man, it's not sacred, it's a story. All be it a fascinating story, still just a story. Here's some food for thought. Where is "God" when innocent children in this country go to bed at night in a box starving? Why would a "God" who is loving allow this to happen? Where was "God" when innocent "God Fearing" people died in the twin towers. Why would a loving "God" allow that to happen? Where is your loving "God" when there is genocide happening in Darfur? Where indeed. Made up fairy tale. Wake up people, Your "Jesus" ain't comin back from the grave. Dead is dead, over out, done, worm food. Put your faith in yourselves and stop relying on Mythical Entities to solve the worlds problems. All you have to do is look at the Middle-East to see where religion has gotten those folks. If there is an evil it would be religion. That is what everyone has fought about in other countries for centuries and it will soon start in this country. And please don't say you'll pray for me it doesn't work.

I am outspoken like it or not. I have made some people cringe at my honesty. I have been called all kinds of names, but they roll off of me. I have been known to not go with the flow, EVER. If you throw a left hook I will duck it and throw a right jab and nine times out of ten connect. I am a free thinker and I NEVER listen to what the News Media or the Government lays out as the truth. I make my mind up all on my own. No one can sway me into thinking their way. So get used to it I am not going away. I'm like a fungus sooner or later I will grow on you and you can't wipe me off.
