Over the last year, I covered a couple of stories about an anti-terrorism exercise last October in Arizona. The federal government just released some new information on TOPOFF.

Homeland Security:  DHS Risk-Based Grant Methodology Is Reasonable, But Current Version's Measure of Vulnerability is Limited.  GAO-08-852, June 27.

Keith, as far as I'm concerned, you lost ALL credibility as a reporter when you made a point of asking Sheriff Arpaio " Are you a racist?" for the sole purpose of getting a rise out of him for the camera.
You prefaced the clip with "Look what I asked the Sheriff!"
Very unprofessional!

I disagree. Asking the Sheriff a direct question that is on some people's minds actually GIVES me credibility. You should be upset with reporters who don't ask tough, direct questions. Also, you shouldn't judge me on one question you don't like. Judge my entire body of work. Finally, the Sheriff is a passionate man. He was already fired up before I asked my question.

Back (somewhat) to the topic.
If we had a serious terrorist attact or natural disaster, our incompetent governor and useless mayor would drop the ball just like they did in New Orleans with Katrina. Just like Governor Napalaveto keeps blaming the federal government for illegals and then does absolutely nothing about it, she would do the same with a disaster. Blame the feds and do nothing, just like the dummycrats did with Katrina. I sure hope we don't have any seroius disasters with our current idiots, or we wil be doomed.
At least the exercises will hept the police and firefighters to be organized until Mayor Gordon tells them to save the illegals and let the rest of us suffer and die.

Keith, I've heard the question asked before, usually for the purpose of getting the Sheriff fired up, and I assumed you were doing the same.
I apologize.
And Keith you are right. I should judge your entire body of work, not just one question I didn't like.
Again, my apologies.

So if you ask someone if they are racist what do you expect to get for an answer? Why do you think anyone would want to ask Arpaio that question anyway? I think too many reporters "think" they are asking what the majority of people want to know but so many times they get it so wrong.

This is an interesting conversation. I've heard of people criticizing the media for the stories they cover, but now there's criticism of the media for the questions they ask. Are you bothered by the question because you support the Sheriff and don't think I should raise a question protestors are asking? If I had asked Mesa's mayor if he is weak on illegal immigration, would you be equally troubled?

Not at all, but how about asking Mesa's Police Chief instead. You guys are giving him a total pass. He's the flipside of the same coin, and padding his resume for the LA job at Mesa's expense.

I grew up in South Florida, playing our version of Little League on the clay fields of South Miami. My dad coached. My mom still doesn't forgive me for my foul ball which almost took off her head. My favorite childhood moment: Dad and I screaming in the Orange Bowl when his Alma Mater, the University of Miami Hurricanes, beat the previously invinsible Nebraska Cornhuskers. Football still reigns supreme. When I wasn't swinging a racket or holding a bat, my mom got me writing, initially for my junior high school paper. I'm still writing today and watching (no longer playing) sports. Now I share life with my wonderful wife, a cat who acts like a dog and a dog who likes chasing the cat.
