John McCain says he intends to reverse a trend that other politicians from Arizona have faced in running for president.

The four Arizonans who have made presidential bids -- Sen. Barry Goldwater in 1964, Rep. Morris K. Udall in 1976, former Gov. Bruce Babbitt in 1988 and McCain in 2000 -- either lost in the general election or never won their party nominations.

Can McCain break the trend of Arizona candidates?

McCain can break the trend if:
1. He moves back to a more conservative stance. His pandering to the left is making many disappointed in him.
2. He must confront Obama with his inexperience (only 143 days in the Senate), his ultra-leftist stance and his flip-flopping from ultra-left to not-quite center.
3. He must show that Obama will immediately revert back to his ultra-leftist views.
4. He must point out that Obama is nothing but another Tax-And-Spend liberal with no new ideas. It's the same old mantra from the Democratic Party.
5. McCain must continue to force Obama to speak without aid of a prepared speech or teleprompter.
6. Finally, McCain must show us that he can make the tough decisions after careful thought.

AZRon... wouldn't that make McCain a "flip flopper" if he moved back to a more conservative stance? I've learned that the whole flip flopping attack has been the Republican's best tactic... it worked against Kerry but I don't think it's gonna work against Obama... most people are voting for Obama because they refuse to vote for another Republican, it's as simple as that. People have seen what war does to this nation. People don't want a guy in office who has shown he wants war and may very well initiate a war against Iran if he gets in there... I'm not against war but I'm against it when it's used as the first option over the last option. And AZRon, don't tell me you really think McCain's brain can stand a chance versus Obama in a live debate... we're dealing with two separate levels of intelligence... McCain isn't as smart as our current president and that isn't saying much. If you don't like Obama that's fine with me but don't sit up here and act like the guy isn't very intelligent because we all know he is.

"GRAMMSTANDING MCCAIN" yet again, we can agree to disagree, because that is what America does, hasn't even passed the "natural born" citizen test. Just because someone says he was, doesn't mean he was. He is "Non-binding" in the Senate.

McCain equal Bush on everything, right down to Busch the beer! Sell, Sell, Sell, all American Companies to foreign control entities.
McCain is 72 years old Carpetbagger who hasn't done anything for Arizona or the people of Arizona. If so, name one! From his all "Betts" are off Federal Land Swaps to the Boeing Tanker deal that would have taken yet another 40,000 jobs overseas. Bitte Ein Budweiser anyone, because those jobs go too!

It's all "psychological", it's all "mental" because everything he has ever done was "mental" and "psychological" because when you are an out-of-step extremist like he is he could never deliver like Bruce Babbitt did. He wants to end that type of Secretary of Interior churn. It was always in his Federal Land Swap deals way between him and Rick Renzi.
By they way, where is Rick Renzi, aka John McCain, aka George Bush, Mission Accomplished on Arizona Federal Land. Land for the "elitist" from the San Pedro River, through the Yavapai Mountains and Rick Renzi property too. What a Joke! A scholar of what?
Constitution, Economics, "WHAT"?

First things first. If McCain can pull off AZRon's 1 thru 6, he'll have to be awake.

To jm: No more of a flip-flopper than Obama. Personally, I don't like either Obama or McCain. Don't count Hillary out just yet. And I don't like her either.

Obama is an empty suit. He's got lawyer skills but not political skills. He fumbles and stumbles when having to speak extemporaneously on most any subject.

Where did you learn that flip-flopping is a Republican tactic? The Democrats have used it for decades. They accuse virtually every Republican candidate of being a flip-flopper. But the Democrats are experts at flip-flopping.

And, according to Obama, any atack on him is personal and therefore "off the table." Now isn't that special. Very thin-skinned if I may say so.

PJ, you're probably right. It would help.

Azron, Obama is a Constitutional Scholar from Harvard. He isn't 72 years old and out-of-step on every issue. A vote for John McCain is only a vote for his secret "embroynic" stem cell Vice President. A vote for John McCain is worse than Bush, because at least it was Bush's idea. He has none, except to follow the likes Enron loophole master Phil Gramm and his wife Wendy. He has none, except to follow the trail of Big Tobacco being sold to mean "Chalabi" street of Iran.

Flip flopping, is John McSame Prescott Bush. He has flipped flopped on every issue that he can read from teleprompter 1 and teleprompter Iseman. Oh It's Vickie Day in the halls of Pac Television.

Obama is an empty suit. That empty suit passed an "aims" test unlike your kids. That empty suit understand the Constitution, unlike all those empty GOP/Vitter Juice drinkers on the right. If it ain't a hooker then it ain't a woman. If it ain't a little boy then it ain't a man! Oh but we need to ban our same sex closet venture loopholes.

So name just one thing John McCain did for Arizona. Just one thing! Anybody, Somebody, call Vickie Iseman, ask her what he did for your great QWEST state? Ask him what he really knew about Tillman prior to speaking at his funeral? Um, Um, Um, Obama hasn't been to the region? The surge is working, Pat Tillman wasn't one of the 1300 men and women that died since the "surge" was sent!

Well we can cross number 1 and 6 off the list of goals. McCain is busy telling the National Council of LaRaza that they should trust him. And to think McCain doesn't want to be associated with racists. That in itself is a joke.

Well, what ever the flip flop is I sure don't want to be on the top, middle or bottom.

Let's write in the person you think is better at being president. Right now my self I can't think of any one.

Maybe the black lady who has twins. One is black and the other is white. In case no one saw the pictures it is true.

Go for the gusto and do the right thing. WRITE IN YOUR PRESIDENTS NAME.

1. Duncan Hunter; or,

2. Fred Thompson; or,

3. Mitt Romney (he's got one or two issues though)
