AN INDICATION OF CHARACTER

There have been many anti-Obama comments on the web..   I find it interesting that so many of them comment on the personal and not on the policies or practices of the Senator.    This weekend I think truly showed the character of the two men who would be president.

When tens of thousands of Americans were being displaced by flood waters, our President continued his "farewell tour of Europe".    Senator John McCain however cancelled his Texas fundraiser scheduled for today.    Of course, the  reason was because the press was asking him about why he was willing to associate with Clayton Williams, who in a 1990 guberatorial race joked that the similarity between the weather & rape was that "If it's inevitable, just enjoy it"    We're talking about a real humanitarian here!  In Sen. McCain's defense, he did cancel the event once it was brought to his attention by the media.  (Of course, you wonder why no one thought to google this guy before they agreed to a fundraiser.)  (Of course, he also kept the money...wonder what the blogs would be saying if Obama had tried that?)

How did Senator Obama spend the weekend?    He also cancelled a fundraising event.   His was in Iowa & he was unwilling to pull police officers from flood relief efforts for his protective detail.   He did however show up in Southern Illinois to fill a few sandbags & do interviews with local stations to bring attention to where sandbagging efforts were taking place.    A photo op?  Sure, but it was also used to bring in more local volunteers for the sandbagging efforts & as the Senator represents Illinois, it does seem to be appropriate that he was there.

It should also be noted that for the past week, the home page of Obama's website has shown a link to the American Red Cross for flood relief donations.  (This is not typical behavior of a candidate raising money for a general election)   He has also sent e-mails to his supporters  requesting donations to the Red Cross & listing sandbagging sites for those close to the flooding.

I hope the next time you read an e-mail telling you Obama is unpatriotic because he doesn't wear a flag pin or he's a secret muslim or a radical christian or the anti-christ  or any other silly rumor; you stop to think before you pass the e-mail along.  Maybe all that fine rhetoric is for real.   Maybe Obama really does care about America.    Maybe the reason so much time is spent attacking him personally with lies is because that's the only defense the Republicans have got this year.

If Obama really cares about America, why does he want to raise taxes? Raising taxes will make the economy worse. Any idiot knows that.... except him.
If Obama really cares about America, why doesn't he allow drilling for oil in Alaska?

Obama filled a few sandbags for the cameras. Why didn't he fill them for a few hours? That would have brought a lot more volunteers. He doesn't give a rat's tooshie about America. He only wants to be president.
McCain and Obama are both losers.

Not a Muslim?? 'Barack Hussein Obama'. daddy and step-daddy both Muslims. Rest my case...

Also, just read yesterday that Libya's Gahdafi is asking all Muslims to support your O'bama. I imagine if Barack does win we will see scenes of Muslims around the world dancing in the streets like they did on 9/11.

Thanks AzRon, I think I'll get his books now. I really didn't want to support his campaign when they were first published. If you have to put up a second website just to fight the bad press that your lies, books, wife, pastor, and socialist legislation generated in the first place, why expect anyone to believe what you write on either site!

This just shows he's a thinking man and most of you on this site haven't seen that in so long that your not into thinking either. The country is in the deepest debt it's ever been in, yet you Right Wingers think that he shouldn't raise taxes? Please then oh wise ones how will the country get out of debt? Maybe a church bake sale? Oh I know "God" will see this country through it's debt. He will magically make money appear as he is all powerful. Give me a break. This country has two classes Upper and Lower. The middle has been in limbo for 8 years. Time to tax the big shots, hell even the not so big shots. Sounds like plan to me. And I fall into the higher bracket, yet I understand the logic. Go figure.

Their and Obama's agenda is to have complete governmental control over the general population.
Gun Control
Can't drill for oil on US controlled land
Can't build refineries
Must raise taxes for the children
Must pass more & more legislation to
control the people
Must force Global Warming down our throats
Must demonize all who don't agree
Can't debate legitimate issues
Divide and Conquer

Now is the time to defeat these Control Freaks and take back our individual freedoms which we are losing bit by bit. We have had 50 years of stupidity. Enough is enough.

Isn't it amazing how you can change the complete meaning by not using the full quote....just like the radio talk show hosts using their little sound bytes and snippets. If you must quote, do them the justice of using the full and complete quote that shows the intended meaning.

I suppose the Patriot act isn't invading on peoples privacy either if you're a Republican that is. Their has never been MORE government involvement into the lives of ordinary citizens as there has been in the last 8 years. How can the middle class get screwed again since there is no middle class anymore? Dump this country into a deep recession? Have you been sleeping lately. If this country goes any deeper right now it will be a depression not a recession. Your argument is nothing more then Right Wing Rhetoric.

Obama will do or say anything to anybody. I don't like McCain or Bush, but at least those two are known to defy their own base "once in a while." Those swooning over Obama can't seem to admit that the man is flawed—just like the others who were running for office. Obama-ites are still wailing about him like he is a messiah. It doesn't matter what news surfaces about him, they deny it before he does.
