Recently Missourians have found one issue that seems to bind us all together....liberal & conservative, Republican & Democrat. They have come from both sides of the aisle to voice an objection to the sale of Anheuser-Busch to the European-owned InBev. Unfortunately, the uninhibited sale of a US company to the highest bidder is part of our system of Free Enterprise. So they all gave lip-service against the sale but could do nothing to stop it. It was a decision of the shareholders (as it should be). But even Sen. Obama spoke out against the sale & hoped that shareholders would remember to keep Bud an American Beer.

One political figure was silent on the sale. Now we know why. John McCain's wife may like driving around town in her sportscar with the vanity plates "MS. BUD" (when she's not flying her private plane. But you never heard her voice an objection to the sale. Nor did you hear her husband; who frequently explains how he is looking out for the American Worker, ask shareholders to sacrifice profit for the good of the Americans who hold jobs with Budweiser.

One of the concerns of an InBev buyout is that InBev has a history of buying a brewery and then cutting jobs to raise their profit margin. I hope that all the Anheuser-Busch employees (who now must worry about what changes are in store for them) remember in November who made an estimated 1 - 2 million dollars on the sale. (Insult to injury is that she will be paying capital gains tax at a rate of 15%, a Bush tax cut that McCain opposed until he ran for President. Now he supports it....wonder why?)

So why didn't either of the McCains comment on the sale in advance? How did Cindy McCain vote her estimated 40,000 - 80,0000 shares?

The next time you raise a bottle of Bud....remember: John & Cindy McCain raised not a bottle, but a finger...to all of us!

THANKS A LOT!

John and Cindy McCain have a pre-nuptial agreement. Her money is hers, not "theirs."

Cindy's family owned a beverage distributor company. She or the family never worked for Anheuser/Busch.

Cindy is the Chairwoman of the distributing firm. She employs people.

She gives a lot of money to charity as well as spending a lot of time doing work herself.

Would you have created this blog if the name was Michelle Obama? How many people does Barack or Michelle employ?

Sorry NEMOKC but AZRON is correct. Cindy McCain had nothing to do with Anheuser-Busch, she own a distribution compnay here in Phoenix, and had NO SAY in the sale of Budwiser for she was not a share holder. Need to check your facts before you "raise that finger" at the McCains.

Bye Bye Bud, I'm gonna miss you! We had such good times together. You went on many trips with me, boating, camping, bar-b-q's, fishing, ball games.

Remember all those ski trips were we would burry you in the snow. You were always there when we came back for you and you never complained once. No matter what, you always knew how to cheer everyone up.

Oh the memories! I have so many photo's of us, having a blast in everything we did together. You were even at my wedding!

How will I go on? No one can replace you!

You truly were the "KING"

There are plenty of US owned companies brewing beer in the US. Isn't Coors one of them?

Simonk - that cool clear water brewed in the Mile High! Absolutely!

100% American!

The Coors Brewing Company is a regional division of the world’s fifth-largest brewing company, the Molson Coors Brewing Company. According to the Molson-Coors website, the division is the third-largest brewer in the U.S. The brewery in Golden, Colorado is the world’s largest on a single site.

Thanks for being on top of that AZRon.

Just another example of the liberally misinformed.

And yes, Coors in the long neck bottle that is so cold that there is just a hint of ice inside. It doesnt get any better.

Actually I should have said the liberally misinformed or the liberal wanting to misinform.

Anyway, another piece of America gone. Give it another 50 years or so and all commercial property will be owned by foreign interests. And do you think they will have our best interests at heart? I think not.

Gonna be millions of moaning Mexicans.
I prefer my beer brewed upstream where the water is pure, it's Coors or Keystone (brewed by Coors) or nothing for me.
Call2Glory--I have stood on a hill above Golden and recycled some of their fine golden brew.

I do check my facts! And while liberal I am not misinformed.

From the New York Times (July 16, 2008)

The business that Mrs. McCain’s late father started a half-century ago, Hensley & Company, is the exclusive wholesaler of Budweiser, Bud Light, and other Anheuser-Busch products in the Phoenix area, and the third-largest A-B distributor in the nation, with upwards of $300 million in yearly sales. Mrs. McCain owns 34 percent of the company, though with her children and other relatives she controls two-thirds of the shares and all the voting stock, Arizona public records show.

Hensley & Company, in turn, owns a minimum of $1 million in Anheuser-Busch common stock, according to Mr. McCain’s most recent Senate financial disclosures. No maximum is given, but last year’s dividend income on that stock was between $50,001 and $100,000 in Anheuser-Busch stock, the disclosures show. And since Anheuser-Busch paid out dividends of $1.25 a share in 2007, it appears that Hensley owned between 40,000 and 80,000 shares.
That, in turn, suggests that the $70-per-share price InBev is paying will give Hensley a gain of roughly $1 million to $2 million compared to February, when speculation about the deal surfaced and two-thirds of that would pencil out as the McCain family’s windfall. Q.E.D.
Mrs. McCain, who’s been known to zip around Phoenix in a car with “MS BUD” vanity plates, also owns $50,001 to $100,000 in A-B stock through her corporate retirement plan"

I willing admit that she does great charity work...I just think that some Missouri employees are going to be needin

I willing admit that she does great charity work....I just think that some Missouri employees are going to be needing some of that charity.

I also willing admit that she is an excellent administrator for her company. I am in a business that deals with many liquor distributors and she is widely regarded as one of the top people in the business.

But I still wish she would have used her considerable influence in the beverage industry to try to change the outcome of the InBev takeover.

BITTE EIN BUDWEISER anyone! "GRAMMSTANDING" McCain and all of his "WINDS OF WAR" Profiteers yet again, snatch some of America's very foundation by Selling Out for 52 billion dollars and your job!

BITTE EIN BUD McCain all the while standing before you, "My Average Americans" we do what we gotta do. It's all good, don't worry, have "Courage" we won't raise the price. Have "Faith" we won't send your job "Overseas", vote for me Cindy, Big Tobacco, PHILL GRAMM, Private "WHISPER" TAX HAVEN Accounts in "Lichtenstein", Wendy Gramm, and lets not forget Joe Lieberman and the other Lindsey.

So Bitte EIN Budweiser in November to you TOO because a vote for McCain is a vote for Bush and all the "CULTURE OF CORRUPTION" he will leave on our plates the day he moves to the "DUBAI" owned Chrysler Building. "WHISPER" Rick Renzi is having a Federal Land Swap Barbecue at the McCain Compound from the San Pedro River, through the Yavapai Mountains. Bring your BINGO CHIPS!

I hope they put Liberal hops in it and all the right wingers drink up. They say they won't drink it but it's the same as gasoline. They complain and whine about it and then they go out and buy foreign fuel. Same will happen with their beer. They will complain and whine while they are drinking it down. I don't drink because it poisons the body but I hope the rest enjoy.

nemokc, I appreciate your courteous response without resorting to name calling.

I, however, must ask, what does her owning and running a beverage distributorship have anything to do with the sale?

In regards to the New York Times article, so what? The "corporation" owns the stock.

I'm sure she voiced her opinion to the Anheuser/Busch Board of Directors but, as I would, she chose to keep her remarks private.

All of this is totally irrelevant in my book. Just as it was for John Kerry's wife and other rich wives of politicians.

Cindy McCain isn't running for any office nor does she want to.

If Michelle Obama is "off the table" according to her husband, so then is Cindy McCain.

Both women are running for office even if their husbands say otherwise. So it's not irrelevant. McCain is a staunch supporter of NAFTA. Who bought the company? Not another American. Scrutiny is the name of the game these days. They are both fair game. No more private lives.

This is off subject...but until Michelle Obama keeps her mouth shut about how bad America is and stays at home and lets Obama do his own dirty work, she is not off the table. She is and will be a target and if she thinks its bad now wait until she's first lady!!! (a thought that is worse than death)then the comments will really begin to get personal...she better toughen up.
