The load served up by Obama & Friends this week about how drilling our own oil won't make a difference is too incredible for words. Hurt the fish, dirty the snow, start earthquakes, save only pennies—sounds like crazy talk. Who would have imagined a world power sitting atop some of the largest energy deposits on the globe and not using any of it? That's how dumb animals behave, not self-preserving human beings. If your family is running out of food, and a bowl of fresh fruit is sitting right next to you, you wouldn't say don't eat anything people, it won't help much! But that's what's been selling as expert intelligence so far. It's not intelligence at all, its complete insanity! We don't need one more puffed-up politician or media expert explaining anything! And any two cents they do throw in should be weighed like the cow chips they are. They've all lost their minds.

Anyway, there's a loud cry among certain members of our society to force a "controlled" energy supply. I like the idea of renewable energy, but the only way you can shift the current paradigm is to make renewable energy abundant. That's consumer tip number one. How do you make any type of energy abundant? Get socialism out of government. That's consumer tip number two. For this argument, a socialist is a controlling, crowd-pleaser, that doesn't like to work. And there are scores of them running around D.C.

The reason we don't have renewable or fossil fuel in abundance is because all the players involved are busy trying to win this round of Monopoly™. Elected officials are brazenly  calling for nationalizing the oil industry, if you can fathom that. People who can't read or write their own appropriations bills want to manage the production of oil. What's all the rush to nationalize everything in the U.S. I wonder? The same intellectually-challenged public servants responsible for our low oil production will escalate this problem, blame the whole thing on "the other side," then rush to socialize every major economic system in order to keep this from "ever happening again." Consumer tip number three: don't believe them.

Phxjane, you are so RIGHT ON with this post. I couldnt believe what my ears where hearing what was coming out of the Obama camp this weekend. Do they really think we are that stupid? MY god, how brazenly foolish he has become (Obama). One of the main reasons we are in this predicament is beacuse we have not produced fossil fuels to compete with the world market. The Poloticao's in DC have had the Oil companys hands tied when it comes to exploration here in No. America, then they have the odasity to BLAME them for the current problem that the American public is facing, when it is THEM that is to blame for this fiasco. For me Obama just lost my vote (well really he never had it, however recently I had been looking at the "man" to see if maybe he was the better person to lead this country, but not anymore)I really dont belive that it will take 10yrs to bring the fuel to market. Come on now we are the world leader in new techonolgy, we can get an effin Mars lander on the red planet in less time, and they want me to belive that it will take that long??? NOT!!!!! They truly are a bunch of clowns running things in the Nation's Capitol.

If anyone in government has to use common sense
they will have to be held accountable !

"Consumer tip number three: don't believe them"
Let's believe everything the Republicans say? We need to move away from fossil fuel not embrace it, No matter where it comes from. Small countries such as Sweden are on the verge of becoming oil free. With all the supposed brilliant minds in this country, not one can come up with a way to do this? This Government is pushing off shore drilling because they don't have a clue what to do alternatively. Here's an idea Look at Sweden.

The swastika stands for socialism
The swastika says socialism
The swastika means socialism
The swastika represents socialism
The swastika is socialism

SO WHY IN THE HELL do you guys want Socialized HEALTH CARE?

Hillary and obama argued over who SOCIALIZED health care was better when they both are SOCIALISTIC plans which was the way of the NAZIs.

The politicians get you to believe this BLEEP then as they say it they are laughing the hell at you cuz you dont realize how much of a pom pom waving, no fact realizing fool you are.

WE DONT NEED THE GOV GETTING INVOLVED IN OUR EVERYDAY LIVES unless you want to be their slave.

Gas prices go up CUZ the value of the dollar goes down everytime they PRINT BILLIONS OF MORE DOLLAR AND USE THEM FOR WAR.

Thats the scam, and you think its supply demand.

EVERYTHING goes up in price when the dollar is devalued.

So tell me whats getting cheaper these days except your paycheck.

I actually agree with RD on this important issue. If we want to exist on this planet, we had better get busy.

Many European countries recognize the importance of renewable energy. We are still locked in the 1950's and the need to give those oil companies millions of dollars in incentives.

Why was the renewable energy bill killed in Congress? This bill would have given important incentives for renewable energy. One lone vote tipped the scales and killed it, I've heard that vote was John McCain's vote.

Which one of these clowns do we want to elect as our President?

As soon as a plentiful and inexpensive alternative fuel is developed, some environmentalist group will, with the help of their scientist lackeys, claim that it is environmentally unfriendly. Congress will enact numerous laws to control it. And, as usual, the price of everything will rise again and the public will scream for help again.

Yes, viable alternatives need to be developed but most that have been suggested have deficiencies one way or another. Solar is great here in AZ but not very plentiful in the northern states. Wind is also available most everywhere but highly unpredictable and the equipment is expensive for what is produced. Fuel cells are too big and expensive to make at this point.

I like McCain's $300 Million Dollar challenge. At least he's proposing something in a positive way. All I hear out of Obama so far are negatives.

As for the Renewable Energy Bill, there was so much unrelated pork in it that it was too costly to pass. Also some of the amendments were way too restrictive.

Notice that I did not single out a specific political party. They're all complicit. Along with the environmentalists.

Maybe you should move. That line is so OLD, BORING AND OUTDATED. Hey just like yourself. Old retired and set in your ways. Keep it the same ol' same ol'. Time for the old folks to step aside and let people who aren't retired run things for awhile.

To me, it does not make any difference what color people are; providing, they are decent, truthful, industrious, honorable,
firm, fair and compassionate.

It's just that I am fed up with people, in general, promoting their prejudice, which doesn't amount to diddlysquat, when people become so blinded and filled with such hatred they vote for any con-artist and/or fool (in any party) that comes down the pike.

The 'pike' is a place like a carnival
and the politicians are there!

Party is not the real Issue; the Person Is!

In many respects, it's a "Carnival of Fools".

AZRon, there is pork in every bill but it always seems to get passed anyway, that has never stopped them before. Fossil fuel will not last forever at the rate that it is now being used up. What then?

Costly? It all depends on what our fine senators (both parties) want to pass. Why not take that millions in incentives given to the oil companies and take a chance on renewable energy? I am tired of excuses and the mindset that it won't work or the complaints of others. Where is the old American "Can Do Spirit"? We need someone who does not have tunnel vision.

We have the same old "do nothing Congress", the same old pork barrel spending and the same old lobbyist, laughing all the way to the bank. Just whose fault is this??

BTW, just where is John McCain going to get 300 million dollars? Someday China will come looking for the money that we owe them, where will that come from?

Tazaz, everyone is fed up.
Renewable energy is great. Clean energy is awesome. However, Big brother is not the savior. In fact, the reason you don't have clean renewable energy is because of big brother! Energy cartels have long since helped to pen laws that channel funding for various alternative technologies through universities. And who sits on the boards of those universities? They do of course. Anything that gets funded, they control. Anything they don't want, they don't fund.

Get government out of the energy industry and you'd have anything you wanted by now. Anyway, it would be better for the whole planet if energy options were dictated by honest supply and demand. Instead, people nervously rehash the ideology that says only big brother can care for the environment. Only big brother can get people to shift their preferences. That couldn't be more wrong. People should be free to choose whatever fuel they want. And guess what, price and availability will make that decision.

I am sick of this government that we now have and I sure as H--- don't expect much from them as most of them are a bunch of self serving hypocrites. So why do Americans keep voting them into office?? I will never understand this if it takes a million years!

I am tired of seeing the money paid by hard working people going into greedy hands. I actually agree with a lot of your statements Jane but there is only so much that we can do with what we have.. I purchase a portion of my electrial power in solar energy from APS and have for years. I was one of the first to sign up as a solar energy partner.

I recycle as much as I can. I moved here from a State where I had recycled almost everything. My next car will not be a gas only model.

I will pay the price but where is the availability?? If this government is so powerless and useless then why don't we all quit paying our taxes and watch the all controlling energy cartels shrivel up and die along with our oil supplies? Might as well take them with us.

I think you will see a lot of Americans changing their preferences, we already see the shift away from SUV's to smaller cars. The wallop to the wallet did that.

We need to get rid of the BS and educate people to the real problems facing this country. And we need alternate choices!!!!

Here we go again. Looks like Obama is just too intelligent for the likes of McCain supporters. Obama understands that the price of oil is high for two main reasons: the dollar is worth as much as Bush's presidency and we are at war in the area that most of our gas comes from. Therefore, he understands that oil companies will not invest in drilling offshore because they learned in the 70s that it is too expensive to drill in the US when they lost millions after the last oil scare.

Don't go backwards, go forward. Vote Obama.

I agree with the majority here, Jane...Excellent post.

To RDJVZ: The key word in your post was "small". It is a fact that several Scandinavian countries are almost "oil-free", of which Sweden is one. But the very thing that makes it possible for them is that they ARE a "small" country with a large abundance of geo-thermal energy to draw upon.

I am all for the continued efforts in developing renewable energy sources that can sustain everyone, in the long term. Not just the US but worldwide. Solar energy is abundant here in Arizona but there are two problems with it. Everyone doesn't live in Arizona and the power conversion of existing solar energy technology is only about 28-32% efficient. Given the technology advances regarding nuclear power stations, construction, and greatly improved safety, building more could be used to cut the amount of fossil fuels needed for power generation, significantly. Hydrogen as an all-around general power source, is still an infant technology but is showing promise. But as with Obama's scenario regarding new drilling, it will likely be decades before hydrogen becomes the source of power for your home and fuel for your vehicle.

But here is another fact: Bio-Diesel is a flop, for one serious reason. The cost of it's production isn't just in its production. It is also taking a signficant portion of what is a main "staple" food product not just for us but also for the animals that are also a major portion of our diet. As such, it s just as responsible for the rising costs of food, etc., as the ridiculous high cost of for

Concerned about government and various current events, I started blogging to find how other people were thinking and to share my own thoughts.
