Along with others, convicted gang member, Jose Medellin received the death penalty for the gruesome deaths of two young girls in a Houston park. Another gang member, an American, has already been executed. Medellin is an illegal alien from Mexico. At the behest of the Mexican government, the World Court ordered a stay of execution. Then George Bush weighed in and "ordered" Texas to obey the World Court.

That didn't go over well anywhere basically. Even GW's own Supreme Court nominee, John Roberts, ruled that Bush overstepped his bounds. Texas just announced that it's giving the green light to Medellin's execution on Aug 5th and that a foreign court has no standing in Texas.

How 'bout that. A foreign court has no standing in Texas. The experts from Columbia (We love you Mahmoud) University say that decision is going to come back to bite us. Basically, we have a legal obligation to comply with the world court, and if we don't comply, other states might follow our example (be it fully noted that when the UN refers to a member, it's a state not a nation).

What do you think? I think Texas is setting a fine example. People in Texas are saying things like:

I don't believe the Constitution of the United States of America has any provision for murder trials, and or sentencing of convicted murderers, to take place in the "World Court" in The Hague, Netherlands. If America allows this intrusion into our sovereign affairs, it will be a sad day indeed for law abiding citizens. Law breakers all over the country, whether here legally or not, will rejoice! (chron.com)

If he does the crime in the US then he needs to be punished under US law. Texas has the death penalty for a reason and we use it. I think that every citizen in Texas will agree with the fact that when you commit a crime, you deserve to be punished, and the punishment should be fitting to the crime that was committed, he deserves what's coming to him. To me this is fitting. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

So let it be written. So let it be done.

The world court is forgetting who they are talking to TEXAS the people who have the highest rate of executions in the US. Texas WILL NOT and SHOULD NOT listen to the "world court" I hope they execute these clowns and I hope they cry like babys. We are the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and need to listen to no one but the people here. The two girls didnt have a chance why should medellin I think and hope that Texas acts like Texas and kills him. Remember the Alamo

This is part of that "Globalize yourself" garbage that the EU and the UN, and by the way, the History Channel and Discovery Channel, are trying to push all the time. They want us to become one 'country' with Mexico and Canada. The start of this was NAFTA, and the major highway through middle America to move products through what they envision one big happy family from the far border in Canada to the southern tip of Mexico.
The only country that will benefit from this nonsense is Mexico. Bush, Fox and the Prime Minister of Canada have had several meetings about this, the last one in Canada. It is supppose to be like a western hemisphere EU. The UN is all for it because then we will have to bow to the UN forces keeping the peace in America instead of our own forces. I think alot more politicians are on board with this than we even know about, the only ones that are kept in the dark about it is we little peons. This is scary, serious business and they are pushing it big time. The Canadians don't like in any better than we do.

Bush did overstep his bounds. When Mexico says to give them back their citizen it seems we can't jump through the hoops fast enough to comply. This is going to lead to more of the same. Even Texas is powerless when it comes to illegal aliens.

There is steady progress of combining Canada, the US and Mexico. With this will come a new constitution. I can picture the nightmare already. I bet one of the first items addressed is silencing the people. Even the liberals will have to live with the mess they thought sounded like a good idea.

I took Texas to take a stand. There are probably other States in the U.S. that have already bowed to the UN. Texas set this precedent, and it's gonna wake people up.

F*#K MEXICO, AND F*#K THE UN. The world court as NO SAY in our AMERICAN JUDICIAL SYSTEM. Mexico refuses to do anything about its borders, hands out pamplets to it people on how to extort our system once they are here, does NOTHING to curtail its drug lords and then has the odasity to ask for a stay of excution of an illegal alien after he murdered 2 little girls? I belive that they should make excutions a prime-time show on some reality base network like in the old day when it was a family event and the whole family went to watch the weekly excutions. Mexico, The UN and The World Court can GO POUND ROCKS!!!

I think the basis of the "complaint" is that the MURDERING ILLEGAL was not offered access to representation by the Mexican consolate. I am sure the illegal did not consult the Mexican "government" when he decided to come here illegally, much rape and kill an innocent American citizen.
I agree with Native, these executions need to be made public and PAINFUL, now THAT's a deterrent.
UN is a joke.

Concerned about government and various current events, I started blogging to find how other people were thinking and to share my own thoughts. I'm most interested in politics, energy, and education these days. We are experimenting with life without a television, so I gather news from a variety of sources. Reading real books is a high priority too. It's amazing how informative they can be! I'm an east coast native who loves Arizona and the little bit of wild west that's left.
